Underwriting Assistant

A. TITLE: UNDERWRITING ASSISTANTB. KEY OBJECTIVE: Provide underwriting and administrative support to the Property & Inland Marine Underwriting unit.C. MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Duties may include are not limited to:a. Review and process policy servicing requests (policy issuance prep, policy issuance, endorsement processing, quality review, renewal prep, ancillary, etc.).b. Identify and comprehend forms and endorsements used in policy construction.c. Achieve service standards by timely response to broker requests and timely receipt of underwriting information.d. Maintain account files in accordance with corporate guidelines.e. Acknowledge and handle general correspondences from internal and external contacts.f. Conduct account inquiries in various management systems.g. Perform other duties and/or handle special projects as assigned.D. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:a. High school diploma or equivalentb. 2-3 years of insurance experiencec. Strong data entry and computer skills.E. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:a. 1-2 years of prior commercial insurance underwriting support experience.b. Basic understanding of insurance terminology.c. Good verbal and written communication skills.d. Ability to work autonomouslye. Strong organization and prioritization skillsf. Good attention to detailg. Flexible and adaptable to change
