Accounting Coordinator

The Accounting Coordinator performs accounting duties as assigned and in accordance with prescribed procedures set forth under the supervision and guidance of the Accounting Manager and Executive Director, with direct report to the Accounting Manager. The Accounting Coordinator is expected to perform day to day management of all assigned activities and provide efficient client services, including but are not limited to the following specific duties:

  • Handling of Billing Books, posting of attorney bills, adjustments
  • Effectively generates Conflicts Reports for new client matters
  • Ability to post cash receipt entries, adjustments, and write-offs
  • Must be familiar with E-Billing processes
  • Backup to Accounts Payable Clerk, including processing of daily check requests, weekly check runs, posting checks to the bank, verifying expense reports; preparing checks, and other assigned A/P duties
  • Maintains accounting ledgers by verifying and posting account transactions
  • Handle collections activity, including calls, reports, follow-up, etc.
  • Work closely with contract attorneys
  • Backup to A/P for processing attorney/paralegal reimbursements for expense reports
  • Must liaise with internal and external clients
  • Interacts with outside vendors to confirm payment of invoices
  • Reconciles processed work by verifying entries and comparing system reports to balances
  • Maintains historical records (both hard copy and electronic)
  • Must be able to print statements and/or generate various kinds of reports
  • Protects organization’s value by keeping information confidential
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities
  • Special projects as assigned

Requirements

  • Experience working in an Accounting Department of a Law Office is a plus
  • Proven work experience in accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting principles
  • Proven ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records
  • Data entry skills along with a strong aptitude for numbers
  • Proficiency with MS Office Excel spreadsheets and proprietary software
  • Experience using OMEGA and/or similar accounting software applications
  • Should be customer service orientated
  • Must possess a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • BS degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration (preferred)
  • Will accept Accounting and Financial Certifications in lieu of a degree
