person will be working with data engineering team ; will play scrum master role on day to day basis; running scrum, daily stand ups, backlog planning, sprint planning; working with the delivery team running small projects. Person will work with whomever needed to unblock the team; if there are blockers (slowing team down from producing), person will do lots of bi-weekly status reporting on activities, what’s been completed in the sprint and reporting back to stakeholders as needed.

§ Agile or scrum hands on experience
§ Experience in Hadoop/HIVE, tableau, SQL, Looker and Snowflake are all REALLY nice to haves
§ Part of agile organization
§ Technical background helps (hands on development experience with software, data or quality engineering experience)
§ Interpersonal and problem solving soft skills
§ Working with data related organizations (direct data experience)
§ must be local to Los Angeles or Seattle
§ 1 round interview; possibly 2.

Tools standpoint
-knowledge of kafka, Hadoop, snowflake would be great. Understanding how it flows in but they don’t need to know all the small details
-BI – the top 2 tools they use/are looking for are tableau and looker

Project Overview: Teams are split up by domain: Subscription, content, various business verticals, they would be running one or more of these teams: How is each team set up?
* Data organization is split up by business verticals and platforms (platforms teams are more technical)
* Acquisition, ads, product & tech, subscriptions (business verticals)
* Share a data lake; data warehouse consolidation hasn’t happened
* Vertical engineering team success is delivery of accurate and timely reports (they own certain dashboards and data feeds; success is ensuring the data is timely and accurate)
o This helps make sure the dashboards are built correctly
o Launching new data feeds; ESPN+ now on Hulu which requires them to add new features and data columns
What is the business challenge they’re trying to solve:
* Challenge they have right now is engineering teams are being formed right now to solve problems tied to data
* Product team is defining the problem
* The TPM’s are planning well right now and aren’t able to create visibility to the leadership team
* They want to know how certain bundles are doing but don’t have data pipeline set up to get information to business team
* It’s a personnel bandwidth issue; Disney+ didn’t have TPM’s so there was no structure on how data was being processed

Support the team and enable Scrum Master, Product Owner and other roles to effectively perform their roles ● Facilitate and assist the team in practices to break work down into smaller sizes to deliver in a single sprint ● Help establish and support consistent reporting within teams and to key stakeholders ● Delivers hands-on coaching to individual teams in all aspects of Scrum and kanban – daily routines, self-organization, collaboration, iterative development ● Drives continuous improvement to create higher performance on their teams. ● Introduces new practices to teams in order to deliver results ● Demonstrates proficiency in most areas of the professional function and in-depth specialization in some ● Anticipates and prevents problems and roadblocks before they occur ● Implements activities that generally impact important components / processes of the work of own unit / team / products

Basic Qualifications:

  • 3+ years direct experience transforming and coaching new teams to Adopt Agile Mindset and Methods ● 5+ years technology experience in technology full development life cycle ● Direct Experience with Scrum, Kanban, Lean Concepts ● * Strong understanding of Agile principles, concepts, and delivery cadence at team level with familiarity at program level ● Scrum, Kanban, and Lean Agile experience ● Able to quickly establish collaborative partnerships with key stakeholders and team members to help them on their journey of adopting Agile; Strong collaboration and influencing skills; ability to establish and maintain strong relationships, establish credibility, build consensus, and achieve goals through influence ● Can prepare and deliver effective communication of progress including the use of agile metrics and maturity assessments at the team level ● Given a known delivery pattern, expertise with implementing and optimizing project management tools, including: Confluence, JIRA, Smartsheets

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior experience with cloud technologies or technical operations. ● Experience working in big data environments using tools such as Hive, Presto, Hadoop, Spark, Kafka and data visualization (Tableau, MicroStrategy, Thoughtspot). ● Good understanding of ETL processing, reporting (SSRS), relational databases (MSSQL, MySql
