This is what you will do: The Data Scientist Internship is an exciting opportunity to be part of the Strategic Data Management & Information Delivery team at Alexion.
The internship will involve using data science techniques that include predictive modeling, machine learning, text mining, segmentation, and clustering to help in developing solutions that drive impact for patients.
Utilize machine learning for developing the next generation of predictive models for targeted business solutions.
Develop supervised/unsupervised algorithms, Big Data pipelines for making business processes efficient.
Interns will get a chance to work with a variety of RWE large datasets including pharmacy and medical claims transactions, etc.
You will be responsible for: Work with the Commercial Cross-functional team to identify opportunities for leveraging internal and external data to drive business solutions.
Responsible for advanced data science expertise to multiple cross-functional projects and drive delivery of complex data science solutions that drive value to Commercial Organization The Data Science Intern will support the development and deployment of analytical models in statistical Forecasting, marketing analytics, automation platforms, and Machine Learning Mine and analyze data from company databases to drive optimization and improvement of marketing techniques and business strategies.
Develop custom data models and algorithms to apply to data sets.
Develop a testing framework and test model quality.
Develop modeling solutions designed to drive the interrogation of datasets for insights in scientific and business application areas.
These solutions include the application of specialized approaches in classification, regression, clustering, NLP, image analysis, graph theory, and/or other techniques.
Use predictive modeling to increase and optimize customer experiences, revenue generation, targeting, and other business outcomes.
Develop processes and tools to monitor and analyze model performance and data accuracy.
Showcasing the knowledge gained through the end of program presentation sessions You will need to have: Strong communication skills and ability to communicate complex methods and results to diverse audiences.
Candidate must have technical experience in database structures, query languages, structured programming languages, and the ability to query large datasets using ANSI SQL/HIVE SQL and working with relational databases Ability to analyze and visualize data using data visualization techniques Proficient programming skill in Python in the data science field Candidate should have taken, or currently taking, advanced statistics courses and be proficient in Basic Probability and Statistics Proficiency in data manipulation, cleansing, and interpretation Demonstrated coursework / real-world application of analytical methods such as Regression, Nave-Bayes, Decision trees, experimental designs, support vector machines, machine learning, and text mining, Natural Language Processing Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite The duties of this role are generally conducted in an office environment.

We would prefer for you to have: One or more quantitative data analysis languages such as R, Python Knowledge of distributed computing and Big Data Technologies like Hive, Spark, Scala, HDFS and use data and these technologies along with statistical tools like Python/R, etc.
