SAFEbuilt has a dynamic career opportunity for a Building Inspector to join their team.

Our inspectors work as part of a team that strives to provide the highest level of service, improvement and community health and safety.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform inspections for compliance to applicable State of California Building, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire codes, as well as State energy efficiency and accessibility standards as amended by the city
Perform field inspections during various stages of construction
Read and examine plans and specifications for compliance
Report violations and maintain files/records
Perform other related duties as required
SKILLS
Extensive knowledge of local building codes and current construction procedures/technology.
Knowledge of California building codes.
Must possess the ability to positively interact with other staff members, the general public, contractors, governmental agencies, and other clientele.
Excellent verbal and written communication.
Good time management, organization, and attention to detail.
Demonstrated ability to exercise initiative and a considerable amount of independent judgment.
Ability to prepare written plan review correspondence and update information into company software programs.
Candidate must be able to handle multiple projects in a fast paced atmosphere.
Candidate must stay familiar and up to date with different editions of the International Building Codes.
Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office.
SPECIAL LICENSE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION:
ICC Residential Inspector B1 Certification Required
ICC Commercial Building Inspector B2 strongly desired
ICC Residential and Commercial Certifications in multiple trades preferred
3+ years of experience in Commercial/Residential Combination municipal experience.
Valid driver’s license with good driving record
