Position Summary

The Pipelayer Helper will be responsible for assisting in the sewer, water, and storm drain installation process.

Duties and Responsibilities
Ability to assist pipelayer in installing all types of pipe for fire, water, sewer, and storm drain systems
Assist pipelayer to install services, fire hydrants, pipe connections etc.

per Standard Drawings
Read and understand survey grade stakes
Able to set up floliner to keep grade and set pipe grades
Able to set up string line and grade stick
Able to effectively spot and grade trench
Able to dig and pour thrust blocks
Able to cut and bevel pipe
Able to solder copper pipe
Able to safely operate compressor and Jack Hammer
Able to safely operate small power tools
Able to mix cement and concrete
Able to set up shoring in accordance with OSHA safe practices
Maintain positive attitude while learning and growing into pipelayer II position
Perform any other duties as assigned by Supervisor
Position Requirements
Education: No education requirement
Experience: 1 -2 years related experience
Team attitude with the ability to move rapidly and energetically
Able to work nights, weekends, and overtime as required
Valid driver’s license in good standing
Able to commute to various sites in Southern CA (Los Angeles/Ventura/Riverside/San Bernardino/Orange Counties)
Physical Requirements
Requires frequent bending, reaching, standing, walking, squatting, sitting, pushing, and pulling of heavy objects regularly throughout the work shift
Able to work in sun, heat, dry, dirty and dusty conditions
Able to lift a minimum of 75 pounds without assistance
Requires manual dexterity to operate equipment and perform manual responsibilities
