Group Facilitator
– BIH PROGRAM

Overall Function

Under the direct supervision of the Program Supervisor, the Group Facilitator will conduct group intervention activities/support groups for BIH program clients using DPH approved curriculum.

Reports to: Program Supervisor

Essential Job Responsibilities:

1.

Create and maintain a Group Intervention Schedule

2.

Responsible for the management, facilitation and organization of prenatal and postpartum groups designed to encourage empowerment and increase social support in a culturally affirming environment.

Group Facilitators will use standardized curriculum provided by the California Department of Public Health that focuses on health issues, health disparities and culturally relevant health information for African-American women

3.

Document Client participation

4.

Participate in Case Conference Activities

5.

Attend BIH Staff meetings

6.

Maintain on file up-to-date client records, current copies of BIH Group Curriculums, BIH Program Standards

7.

Provide updated client each month to Program Supervisor/Mental Health Specialist for monthly report

8.

Coordinate services with Family Health Advocates to reinforce weekly group session

9.

Complete ETO forms and documentation for clients and programs services

10.

Attends provider and staff meetings

11.

Networks with other involved service providers in the community

12.

Assists with other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

1.

BA Degree in women/maternal, child/infant health, social work, health education, or human services development

2.

Three years of experience providing maternal health services to African American women

3.

Knowledge of socio-cultural experiences compatible for pregnant African American women and children

4.

Excellent written/oral communication skills

5.

Excellent interpersonal skills, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

6.

Computer literate

7.

Experienced working with low income, minority and inner-city populations

A Criminal Record (fingerprints) clearance will also be required.

Valid California Driver’s License

5.

Have own transportation and a clean DMV record

6.

Valid/Current Automobile Insurance

The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, bend over, reach with hands and arms, as well as occasionally lift items between 10-25 lbs.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $41,000.00
– $46,000.00 per year
