Vice President, Trade Operations

The VP position in Trade Operations will work closely with traders, brokers, compliance, investment teams, and accounting teams and be responsible for ensuring trade activity is entered, allocated, confirmed, communicated and settled accurately and timely. In addition, this person will lead various initiatives to increase straight through processing capabilities, improve processes, identify and evaluate technology based solutions, participate in cross-functional initiatives, work with the technology team to design, write specifications, test, and deliver new functionality.Responsibilities:Allocating trades across multiple accounts, funds, and special purpose vehicles based on allocation guidelines and compliance limits;Ensuring Oaktree is meeting existing regulatory requirements related to trade processing and reporting and collateral management and staying up-to-date on upcoming regulatory obligations and their expected impactConfirming trade details with brokers using CTM, Bloomberg VCON, and other means as necessary;Monitoring trades to ensure trades are communicated to external parties and downstream systems;Responding to and/or resolving escalated settlement issues by working with custodians and counterparties;Working with counterparties to increase electronic matching rates;Driving initiatives to establish and continuously improve straight through processing rates;Facilitating discussions with traders, accounting, reconciliation teams, and other stakeholder groups to address trade processing issues;Writing specifications for technology enhancements;Overseeing collateral management process and manage vendor and service provider relationships.Working with technology team to design, develop and test new functionality;Writing effective procedures and training others when necessary;Building effective working relationships with internal stakeholders and brokers;Troubleshooting and enhancing both FIX, SWIFT and other trade communication exceptions as necessary;Working with industry vendors to evaluate and implement third party software where applicable;Performing various other tasks and projects as necessary.Qualifications:8+ years relevant operations experience; specific expertise and knowledge of bonds, equity, syndicated loans, foreign exchange, derivatives, and repos;Experience working with industry utilities and communication protocols such as CTM, CLS, OASYS, ALERT, SWIFT, FIX, VCON, FXAll, etc.;Strong quantitative and analytical skillsPersonal Attributes:Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills;Strong initiative and a self-starter with a proven ability to work with minimal supervision;Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure;Flexible and team-oriented with strong integrity and professionalism.Education:A Bachelor’s degree is required.Equal Opportunity Employment PolicyOaktree is committed to diversity and to equal opportunity employment.
