Overview:
Social platforms move at the speed of culture.
Communities and sub-cultures develop distinct languages and traditions.
Ad and storytelling formats morph to new shapes and sizes throughout each year.
The confluence can be vexing for brands — some are beloved on social, but far too many struggle for relevance and connection.
This role is all about reimagining what it means to be a modern brand in social, specifically on emerging social platforms— and guiding the cross-disciplinary teams that make it happen.
Responsibilities:
- Platform Relationships & Thought Leadership: Serve as agency’s lead contact for all major and emerging social platforms.
Build relationships and maintain active dialog with ad, product and research teams.
Drive agency’s POV on each platform and lead regular workshops/briefings with internal teams (strategy, account & creative) and clients.
- Point of contact for social platforms: Attend creator days, get the inside scoop on new features and share back with Edelman the best use cases for brands to activate.
- Social User Experience: Design the flow of communications and interactions throughout a social campaign.
Pressure test and optimize the consumer experience of a creative concept to ensure relevance, participation and clear value exchange.
- Audience & Community Intelligence: Partner with analytics & planning teams to develop comprehensive and compelling audience profiles using social listening and qualitative research.
Dig for insights and translate into actionable creative prompts/briefs for storytellers.
- Content Analysis: Constantly monitor for and deconstruct successful content from creators and brands.
Assess what breaks through and how new platform functionality enables innovative storytelling.
- Channel & Content Strategy: Work with Creative teams to find the right home and partners for an idea.
Develop content recommendations based on user needs and platform behaviors.
- Role of Creators and Influence: Understanding how creators are influencing channel content for brands and working with the Influence team to bring talent options to creative teams
Skills & Experience:
- 8+ years experience at an agency, brand or platform studying audiences, forecasting trends and developing social-first ideas
- Deep understanding of internet culture, interest-based communities and group dynamics; personal participation a plus
- Stellar writer and presenter; able to craft clear, concise narratives and provocative presentations
- High EQ; knows how to read the room, when to lead the room and how to build consensus.
- Expert desk researcher and social listener; can unearth insights, find tension and identify the unmet needs of an audience/community
- Hands-on experience with all major social platforms, in either personal or professional capacities
