Position Summary

Set direction and lead the budgeting, forecasting, and implementing of all fundraising activities throughout the California Southland chapter territory, with specific emphasis on generating revenue from Combined Events and meeting budget and strategic plan goals for all revenue streams.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direction and management to a 10+ person development staff responsible for all fundraising in the Chapter territory
  • Set and manage all aspects of annual fundraising expense and revenue budget that maximizes revenues at lowest possible expense while implementing methods to attain them
  • Build a stable fundraising base through executing the strategic plan and implementing tactics that allow for growing and diversified revenue streams
  • Ensure donor acknowledgment and stewardship activities are timely, appropriate and in legal compliance
  • Directly supervise, coach, and mentor frontline fundraisers, special events staff and Development support staff
  • Participate in donor strategy, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship activities
  • Participate in the orientation of volunteers and provide staff support for Chapter and local National Board of Directors and involve them as partners in fundraising activities
  • Partner with National staff as well as Leadership Team in day-to-day operations as well as on special projects, and represent Chapter in Development discussions on nationwide level

  • Work at least one Walk to End Alzheimer’s on a weekend, and provide assistance as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • At least 7 years of successful track record of senior, non-profit management experience; minimum 5 years of mass-market special event fundraising experience preferred.
  • Experience in planning, managing and budgeting for a fundraising organization with a goal of $1,000,000+ preferred.
  • Excellence in organizational management with the ability to coach staff, manage, and develop high-performance teams, set and achieve strategic objectives, and manage a budget.
  • Able to make compelling presentations, both orally and in writing, to staff, volunteers, donors.
  • Strong marketing, public relations, and fundraising experience with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders and cultures.
  • Experience effectively and positively leading a staff of professional fundraisers to achieve goals
  • Experience working with volunteers and board members
  • Experience in fundraising moves management techniques
  • Experience using complex databases to track donor activity
  • Ability to manage a fundraising structure that requires coordination between Chapter and National resources
  • Ability to manage with accountability to Chapter Executive Director
  • Ability to meet all of the management requirements specified in the Shared Fundraising agreement


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills to interact with donors, staff, and volunteers individually, or in large groups.
  • Ability to be detail oriented and use computer skills and analytical savvy to build, review, and analyze data.
  • Ability to analyze donor giving patterns and formulate appropriate solicitation plans
  • Action-oriented, entrepreneurial, adaptable, and innovative approach to planning.
  • Detail oriented, adaptable, organized and able to successfully manage multiple projects with multiple priorities
  • Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people, and reach out to diverse communities.
  • Ability and willingness to travel across chapter territories, to National offices, and national and
  • international events, as required (overnight travel will be approximately 20%).
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle and in possession of a valid driver’s license, good driving record, and assess to a reliable vehicle.
