CBS Television Distribution is the preeminent company in television syndication.

CTD produces or distributes 10 first-run series, including the long-running, critically acclaimed hits Judge Judy, Dr.

Phil, Entertainment Tonight, Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy!, Inside Edition and Rachael Ray, and holds the largest distributed television library.
CTD handles the domestic television distribution of popular off-network product from CBS Television Studios, CBS News and Showtime.

The division also handles national barter advertising sales for Debmar-Mercury’s and Fox’s first-run syndicated programming, and operates Dabl, the new multiplatform, advertiser-supported lifestyle network (www.dabl.com).
Role and Responsibilities:
CBS Media Ventures (CMV), the pre-eminent producer and distributor of major first-run television series, including The Drew Barrymore Show, Entertainment Tonight, Dr.

Phil, the Rachael Ray Show and Inside Edition, seeks a mid-level to senior attorney!

The position will ideally be based in Los Angeles, CA (but we are open to other locations for a phenomenal candidate!) and will report to the EVP, Business and Legal Affairs.

Major responsibilities will include:
Management of legal matters related to the licensing and distribution of CMV first-run syndicated series.

Overseeing all legal matters pertaining to Dabl, CMV’s digital tier, multi-platform linear channel, including negotiating content acquisition and affiliate agreements, content clearance, advertising, and marketing.

Negotiating marketing and integration agreements on behalf of CMV Media Sales for first-run syndication series, specials, and original Dabl programming.

Assisting Labor Relations and the AMPTP in union and guild matters and presentations.

Coordinating with Governmental and Regulatory Affairs on Federal, State and local agency matters and managing in-house, guild and third-party audits.

Directing in-house and outside counsel with respect to litigation management as well as managing bankruptcy and collection settlements matters.

Clearing original digital content posted on the websites for CMV’s first-run syndicated series, including editorial and integrated content, as well as review and update the TOU and PP for the websites.

Drafting clip licensing agreements for CMV’s first-run series (for use in broadcast, films, documentaries, commercial use, etc.).

Providing interim support to ViacomCBS’s Global Distribution Group’s Head of Domestic Sales in negotiating domestic OTA licenses, managing various contract compliance matters and providing other general advice and support.

Performing such other general or special legal affairs matters as directed by the EVP, Business and Legal Affairs.

Basic Qualifications:
JD Required, California Bar or California RIHC eligible Minimum of 6 years’ legal affairs experience within the entertainment industry but also open to Law firm experience Leadership experience.

Superior communication, negotiation and drafting skills Exceptional organizational, prioritization and time management skills with the ability to execute multiple, high-priority projects with a keen attention to detail Professional and confident demeanor; excellent interpersonal skills and diplomacy; and extremely flexible Additional Qualifications:
Broadcast television experience is a plus Knowledge of current industry trends
