The VP, Data Management oversees a team of healthcare data warehouse professionals that integrate data across enterprise business units for the improvement of data supporting patient health.

This role is accountable for defining and implementing best practices for data integration and data warehouse management and is responsible for overall direction, coordination of assignments, evaluation and professional development of the team.

Management and manipulation of mostly structured data, with a focus on building
business intelligence tools, conducting analysis, performing normalization operations and assuring data quality.

Responsibilities include creating specifications to bring data into a
common structure, creating product specifications and models, developing data solutions to support analyses, performing analysis, interpreting results, developing actionable insights and presenting recommendations for use across the company.

Partners with stakeholders to understand data requirements and develop tools and models such as segmentation, dashboards, data visualizations, decision aids and business case analysis to support the organization, including producing and managing the delivery of activity and value analytics to external stakeholders and clients.

Position has high visibility to Senior Leadership and Executives through direct interaction and reporting.

Errors in judgment or work performance could result in insufficient operation for the organization.

Primary Responsibilities:
Owns an end to end process Develops functional, market level, and/or site strategy, plans, production and/or organizational priorities Identifies and resolves technical, operational and organizational problems outside own team.

Product, service or process decisions are most likely to impact entire functions and/or customer accounts (internal or external) Provide thought leadership and hands-on guidance in architecting, designing, implementing and deploying a healthcare Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence solutions, where necessary Review functional requirements and designs.

Ensure that designs are architecturally compliant, correspond to the best data warehouse practices and represent the best solution for the business need Provide oversight to the Data Warehouse development team in release planning and coordination process; provide weekly status updates Accountable for ensuring resolution to production data issues, and other data warehouse issues impacting users, as well as assisting the team to resolve technical challenges Ensure Role Based Access Controls (RBAC) for the appropriate virtual segregation of physically integrated data in multiple databases Managing customer expectations to ensure strong customer satisfaction.

Direct customer needs assessments and manage the delivery of services Provide oversight and direction to the team to establish development process and standards that ensure the development team achieves objectives and milestones on time and within budget Collaborate and provide guidance to project management resources in developing project plans by providing tasks and estimates.

Collaborate with project management in creating high-quality Data Warehouse deliverables in a timely basis.

Apply a strong aptitude for iterative functionality-driven software development, preferably leveraging Agile framework and software principles Work with industry vendors, consultants and partners to understand data warehousing & business intelligence technology trends, identifying new technology developments and technologies that may be useful Understand the business’s clinical and operational needs.

Maintain a strong knowledge of these needs through visits and communications with OneOptum CA businesses Establish National and Market level data warehouse roadmaps and insure they align with business’s clinical and operational needs Demonstrates continuous learning and maintains a highly skilled and engaged workforce by aligning resource plans with business objectives; overseeing the recruitment, selection, and development of talent; motivating teams; preparing individuals for growth opportunities and advancement; staying current with industry trends, benchmarks, and best practices; providing guidance when difficult decisions need to be made; and ensuring performance management guidelines and expectations drive business objectives and results Provides leadership to and is accountable for the performance of managers and/or senior level professional staff.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Systems 15 years of computer systems experience with 5 or more years of management responsibility 10 years of experience working with data warehousing systems for large enterprises with both internal and customer facing portals, preferably with near real time transactional data 5 years managing large teams 4 years of experience with Agile Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) methodology 4 years of experience managing and leading geographically dispersed technical teams Proficiency in SQL query language and able to use many query tools Full knowledge of delivery methods, analytics applications and tool portfolio, data sourcing and ETL integration methods Comprehensive knowledge of Data Warehousing/Mining, ETL/EAI/EII, Data cleansing, security and data access technologies, virtualization and modern data architecture Full understanding of conceptual, logical, physical data modeling, data standardization and stewardship, information integrity and compliance, data quality management Full understanding of relational, data vault and dimensional data models Demonstrated track record of leading technical teams, customer management and project management Ability to work with IT operations to quickly come to resolution of open support requests Strong communication skills.

Assimilates information quickly, communicates complex issues clearly and concisely.

Understands, and has the ability to, define and implement process improvement and change management Solid Healthcare industry data domain knowledge You will be asked to perform this role in an office setting or other company location, however, may be required to work from home temporarily due to space limitations Employees are required to screen for symptoms using the ProtectWell mobile app, Interactive Voice Response (i.e., entering your symptoms via phone system) or a similar UnitedHealth Group-approved symptom screener prior to entering the work site each day, in order to keep our work sites safe.

Employees must comply with any state and local masking orders.

In addition, when in a UnitedHealth Group building, employees are expected to wear a mask in areas where physical distancing cannot be attained Preferred Qualifications:

Job requires hours that often exceed 8 hours per day and/or 40 hours per week during, especially in times of peak activity.

Evening meetings and/or weekend work sometimes required to ensure timely project completion.

High job pressure exists in the balancing of several projects with conflicting and sometimes changing deadlines.

Up to 20% travel required consisting of multiple overnight hotel stays and travel by auto, bus, plane, train, etc.
