TheTeam:

As a memberof the Pass-through consulting group (PSCG) you will be focused on the core taxissues that affect the heart of the firm?s client base and an increasinglyimportant part of the national and global business world.  Pass-through entities range frombillion-dollar investment funds to high-tech startups.  The PSCG team works in concert with our localoffices and M&A teams in assisting our clients with transactions, leadsinternal and external trainings, develops and deploys forward looking internaland go-to-market solutions that help RSM lead in the middle market.  There are opportunities for client contact,interaction with leading members of the legal and accounting professionsrepresenting other parties in our clients? transactions, and governmentofficials charged with interpreting the law.

Thislocation of this position is flexible.

TheRole:

  • Interact directly with clients and their outside advisors toprovide effective and often creative solutions to complex federal income taxissues related to partnerships
  • Assist buyers and sellers with transaction tax structuringdecisions, working in concert with the functional tax lead and outside advisors
  • Manage the analysis of the impact of proposed or completedtransactions including but not limited to partial contributions, Revenue Ruling99-5 and 99-6 transactions, debt financed distributions and disguised sales
  • Oversee multiple client engagements and supervise remote teammembers
  • Aid with research and analysis into other questions related topartnership taxation including but not limited to qualified business income,the net investment income tax, passive losses, and carried interests
  • Act as the subject matter expert and owner of processes andtools related to a specific industry or tax technical area
  • Manage the development of processes, technology, and other toolsused by the PSCG team and the firm as a whole
  • Mentor and develop engagement staff, providing leadership,counseling, career guidance, and guidance on issues related to work/life fitand retention
  • Create and lead training sessions on partnership topics directedat clients, general practitioners and other partnership experts
  • Act as a member of the engagement team for private equity funds,their portfolio companies and other crown jewel clients

Qualifications:

  • Seven or more years focused in federal partnership taxationrequired
  • Industry specialization preferred, but not required
  • Experience with S Corporations beneficial, but not required
  • Previous experience in M&A or other transaction setting
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or otherbusiness-related field required; advanced degree preferred (e.g., MST or JD)
  • CPA, enrolled agent, or other appropriate certification required
  • Strong research and communication skills (both written and oral)
  • Strong executive presence and ability to participate instrategic planning initiatives
  • Strong project management, leadership, and client interactionskills
  • Highly disciplined and comfortable in a fast-paced environment
