US Debt Advisory – Managing Director

Summary of Responsibilities : A highly skilled professional responsible for promoting the Debt Advisory business with the Bank’s US client base, including the areas of Ratings & Capital Structure Advisory, Liability Management, and Capital Solutions.

This person should develop quantitative models used to help clients across a broad spectrum of industries tackle corporate finance issues including capital structure, shareholder distributions and ratings.

He or she should prepare client-facing materials used to present recommendations based on the models’ outcomes and make presentations to senior executives at current and prospective clients, working with corporate lending, debt capital markets, and client coverage teams to create detailed and high value-add analyses of capital structures and make thoughtful and actionable recommendations.

Build and manage a local US team and work closely with the global debt advisory teams.

Train and support analyst pools and corporate lending and debt capital markets team members to upgrade overall client pitch material and idea generation.

List Major/Essential Job Duties: Working closely with global head of the Debt Advisory team and client coverage, corporate lending and DCM to proactively anticipate potential financing transactions / ideas and develop them to present to client with a multiproduct one-team approach Increase and support deal origination in all financing areas through value-added ideas and strategic dialogue Building financial data-driven analytical models in Excel, which will include: VBA coding as needed Extensive use of Bloomberg as a data source Corporate finance modeling of P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow with projections Credit Analysis based on fundamentals Using models to make corporate finance recommendations to clients; quantitative methodology includes: Regression analysis Monte Carlo simulation Ratings methodology – S&P, Moodys, Fitch Communicating complex findings with clients through elegant and comprehensive presentations Creation of models and templates to address key financial issues facing corporate clients including: Ratings capacity Initial ratings advice Revolving Credit sizing Optimal Fixed / Floating rate mix Optimal debt duration and weighted avg maturity profile WACC optimization IG transitioning Spin-off analysis and recommendations on initial cap structure Hybrid capital topics Liability management Secured vs Unsecured capital structure issues Bank debt vs bond financing Simulation and sensitivity analysis of operating cash flow, revenue growth, etc Researching and developing new analyses Working with debt capital markets and syndicated finance/corporate lending on client materials Participation in face to face client meetings and conference calls Use of Bloomberg and other sources of information 3.

Level of Complexity and Risk Involved: High level of complexity.

The Executive Director will interact with the main corporate clients of the BBVA Group in the Americas.

Recommendations made to clients can have significant financial impact and fee generation potential.

Analyses must be supported by data driven methodologies.

Scope of Duties: Interaction with clients and prospects.

Interaction within the BBVA Group Understanding of financial modeling, corporate finance topics, financial statement analysis, derivative instruments.

Oral and written presentations.

Identification and use of research and tools.

Skills, knowledge, abilities/Competencies : Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, Finance, Economics or similar quantitatively-oriented studies Background or interest in computer science a plus Masters / MBA a plus Fluent English mandatory, Spanish skills a plus Understanding of and interest in capital markets, financial statements, statistics, and corporate finance topics Knowledge of external database tools including Bloomberg is a plus Knowledge/expertise Excel, Power Point, Word a must, Python and/or VBA a plus Excellent personal communication skills 6.

Management Responsibilities : As head of the Debt Advisory US team, this candidate will have management responsibilities for the analyst(s) working on specific projects and analyses, as well as potentially growing the team as needs require to include more senior members.
