PrimaryResponsibilitiesThe primary duty of the Transit Engineering BIM Director is to lead the Market Sector BIM initiative providing direction for successful BIM implementation to HDR and its clients in conjunction with the Transportation BIM Program and the Transit MS Director.

The Transit Engineering BIM Director will provide strategic support and specialized expertise for projects involving BIM deliverables.

Further, this position will work closely with leadership of the Market Sector and Business Classes to both prioritize needs and actively promote BIM use across HDR’s Transit Engineering projects globally.

This position will report to the Transportation Business Group BIM Program Manager.

The Transit Engineering BIM Director will also be responsible for providing specialized BIM leadership and support for major pursuits and project execution with respect to BIM-enabled project delivery within the Market Sector, including technical reviews of our major BIM projects.

– This position will serve as a focal point for the Transit Market Sector to deliver BIM planning, design and implementation services to our Clients and to create alliances within the Transit Market Sector while focusing on our quality delivery.

This position will work closely with the Transportation BIM Program Manager, Transit Market Sector Leadership, and Business Class Managers in developing long-term tactical plans to best serve the Transit BIM needs of HDR’s Transportation Clients.

Other important duties include aligning with the BIM vision set by the Transportation BIM Program.BIM Technical Leadership
– This position will provide BIM leadership on selected major projects.

The BIM Director will work closely with design and CADD staff to kickoff projects’ BIM processes.

They will work with project leadership to assist in risk analysis and project performance.

When training is required this position will develop consistent learning paths for the proper training for local design and CADD staff.

This position will also be expected to monitor and report on BIM tool usage and capabilities within the market sector.

Marketing and Business Development
– This position will assist and advise in the development of HDR’s global BIM capabilities with the ultimate goal of positioning HDR as a leader in the field.

Additional duties include supporting select internal and external client relationships, recruiting and staff development, and select major pursuit development.

Location and Travel The geographic location of this position is non-specific; however, a location with significant HDR presence is preferred.

Occasional travel will be required with average annual travel to amount to less than 50%.

Utilization The majority of responsibilities for this role will be developing strategy and driving the innovation of BIM-based workflows that align with the goals of the Transit Market Sector.

As a seller-doer, this position will be actively engaged in project and program work with a steady-state utilization goal of 60% on billable project work after the first three months.

The type of work will vary by the engagement, but would be a combination of BIM support for major transit projects and strategic or advisory BIM consulting for major transit clients, capitalizing on the individual’s strengths and experiences.

*LI-MR1QualificationsThis position requires the following skills, attributes and experience: This position requires the following skills, attributes and experience: Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Science related discipline, such as Civil Engineering, Traffic Engineering, Mathematics, Transportation Planning, or similar related degrees.

Minimum of 10 years in leading regional or national programs associated with BIM.

Should have a good understanding of different software development processes to be able to communicate needs and initiatives to the BIM Program Manager and Transit MS and BC leadership.

Maintained client relationships with Transit agencies or other private entities, and have a track record of success in this arena.

Experienced in development and management of strategic marketing programs for BIM focused services for the transportation industry.

Experienced in development and management of a wide range of client relationships and specific program and/or project pursuits.

Experienced in the use and creation of Industry Standards focused on BIM Experienced with Transit industry associations and maintains a visible profile in the transportation markets.

Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with client managers, technical directors, business group directors and operations staff.

Be willing to travel domestically up to 50% of their time.
