SummaryOur client is an award-winning global entertainment company behind some of the most popular kids’ titles in the world.The Role:The Technical Director, Animation works with their full suite of animation software, developing and testing tools, custom features, and add-ons, and making sure they perform at maximum efficiency and efficacy for all studio artists and technicians.Responsibilities: Provide support and development of tools and procedures to extend and enhance the pipeline. Assist animators and artists with troubleshooting of shots. Issues may include problems with fur, clothing, particle effects, animation, and rendering. Support and work with multiple departments, including Modeling, Animation, Lighting, FX, and Research and Development. Ensure software development follows studio policies and guidelines. Work closely with other Technical Directors, Production Supervisors, VFX Supervisors, and Production Engineering to maintain and further the production pipeline. Assist in training and mentoring of other Entry Level and Associate Technical Directors. Understanding written and verbal project briefs, and working alongside team members to develop plans, work schedules, and targets. Analyzing operations and providing cost-effective suggestions for improvement. Streamlining processes so that the business operates at maximum efficiency. Assisting with training and recruitment of new staff members. Liaising with clients, managers, and other stakeholders. Updating work schedules and adjusting targets as required. Motivating and inspiring staff members when tight deadlines approach and morale or energy is low. Keeping up-to-date with advancements in the field. Writing up reports and presenting findings to the relevant parties.Desired Experience and Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in the relevant field. Practical industry experience recommended. Strong working knowledge of a Maya CG animation pipeline Extensive familiarity with Redshift and Deadline Python A high technical aptitude. Superb interpersonal and leadership skills.
