Learn more about our purpose and how you can bring it to life as an Ameris Bank teammate.Responsible for income tax functions of the company including monthly accrual entries, coordination with external firm for quarterly tax provision and tax returns, and estimated payments.

Perform certain other tax functions including sales tax reporting and payments, and responding to notices from taxing authorities.

Other projects and duties as assigned.Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities:Compiling information needed by third party tax professionals related to federal corporate income tax, state corporate income tax and state franchise taxesPrepares and records tax journal entriesMaintenance of automated recurring tax general ledger entriesSubmits all federal and state income and franchise tax paymentsManages sales and use tax submissions and returnsPreparation or review of consolidating/eliminating entriesPreparation or review of general ledger account reconciliationsAssist with management of month-end close processVariance analysis and other financial analysis of reported resultsProvide support for external auditorsPrepare support for selected financial statement footnotesCoordinate responses to audits and examinations by taxing authorities.Required Knowledge, Skills and Competencies:Solid knowledge of US GAAPWorking knowledge of Sarbanes Oxley and key internal controls applicable to accounting areaFamiliarity with federal and state corporate income tax a plusAdvanced Excel skills; Competent in Word and PowerPointAbility to work independently with minimal supervisionAbility to consistently meet deadlinesStrong oral and written interpersonal skills; able to cultivate relationships with individuals at varying levels within the organizationIndustry and Work Experience:6 years professional accounting experience requiredPublic accounting experience or public company experience preferredFinancial institution accounting experience a plusAcademic:Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance requiredMaster’s degree in Accounting or MBA a plusCPA preferredDisclaimer:The above job description is meant to describe the general nature and level of work being performed; it is not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties, and skills required for the position.All job requirements are subject to possible modification to reasonably accommodate individuals with disabilities.
