ESSENTIAL FUNCTION

The Manager of Talent and Culture Development will work in partnership with the Human Resources team, Executive leadership and other teams in leading the vision, strategy, development, and implementation of growth efforts as well as change by design. This role will primarily oversee employee engagement and talent development to ensure that Food Bank teams are capitalizing internal strengths and innovative tools. The Manager of Talent and Culture Development will be a champion for the Food Bank’s diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion initiatives, ensuring that all policies and procedures are built and executed from an IDEA lens. This person will also serve as a key member of the Management & Leadership Team, offering perspectives on issues related to human resources, engagement and development to support the organization’s mission and growth.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Recruiting: Drive talent acquisition (recruitment, interviewing, and hiring): identify staffing, recruiting, and retention needs, and integrate team and candidate feedback to make refinements wherever necessary. Provides direction and oversight to the HR/Payroll Coordinators for staffing and recruiting processes and works with the hiring manager in recommending the final candidate. Design and execute equitable and inclusive policies and procedures for hiring and talent management. Monitor and report on turnover rates, reviewing exit interview feedback and making recommendations as needed.

Culture: Work with Executive Leadership to develop strategic human resources, robust engagement, empathetic leadership, individual development, and change management plans to advance the behaviors, culture, and competencies needed to achieve organizational goals. Design and implement the annual employee engagement survey. Integrate those results with other organizational data (employee journey maps, focus groups, etc.) to recommend improvements and, in collaboration with the Management & Leadership Team, recommend new or modified organizational policies and practices. In partnership with others, cultivate a climate that values diverse perspectives.

Talent Development: Design, implement, and integrate a robust career pathways structure and employee retention programs to support team members’ growth and satisfaction the organization. Create and direct a variety of initiatives to support employee development, including internal mentoring and coaching programs and regular professional development opportunities. Develop and implement a performance management and compensation system which integrates goal-setting, internal development planning, local and environmental trends, and accountability.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree and four (4) years of experience in a human resources role, or equivalent experience with knowledge of principles and practices of the human resources field (compensation, employee relations, recruitment and selection, training and development, performance management, employment law and compliance).
At least one year in a nonprofit environment required.
Ability to collaborate with others to develop and implement broad human resources policies and procedures that will impact the entire organization.
General knowledge of diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility and interest in doing the work through an IDEA lens.
Ability to empathize with people from diverse backgrounds and across diverse settings.
Strategic thinking skills with a strong ability to collaborate for change, foster enthusiasm and drive to take action.

Insured vehicle with valid California driver license.

Bi-lingual fluent in Spanish or other language other than English.
