Netflix is building a new internal game studio to incubate and build games to maximize the player value of the Netflix Games platform.

The ISX (Internal Studios) Studio Director will partner closely with several (3-5) small incubation pods to help graduate games from prototype into production. You’ll play a pivotal role in the development of both teams and projects, working closely with the Internal Studios Central leadership team (Director of Internal Development, the Head of Design and the VP of Internal Games) to define the future of internal studios.

The successful candidate should have excellent communications skills, experience in budgeting, strong knowledge of game development process with a special focus on game prototyping experience.

The ideal candidate would have multiple years of experience in both managing multiple development teams to successful delivery of product with full product lifecycle experience from prototype, through production, launch, and live service.

Responsibilities
Game development: Be directly responsible for creating the ideal conditions for small teams to experiment with big, bold game concepts that will become the next generation of tentpole games for the service. Manage the overall process of realizing the Internal Studios vision of teams creating high-value games on the Netflix platform with a strong emphasis on rapid iteration and decision-making.
Manage Team Composition and Health: Monitor team progress and health, and help to adjust course by balancing features with production realities, budgetary constraints and recruiting bandwidth against project headcount needs.
Work closely with internal Studios’s centralized resources on key responsibilities: Provide visibility on budget, hiring priorities, team health and resourcing concerns.
Oversee budget: Maintain context to give feedback to teams – review headcount proposals and other spends to ensure focus on the critical objectives for each phase of development.
People Management: Oversee the hiring and building of these nascent teams to ensure team focus and health, while leveraging Freedom and Responsibility to deliver maximum likelihood of player value, including managing individual productivity, career growth and performance management.
Requirements
7+ years experience managing multiple teams in a general-management role for PC, mobile- and live-game development
History of successfully developing games from ideation to production.
History of growing studios as production matures.
Experience with immature software platforms.
Ideal requirements
History of successfully developing games through complete life cycles, including launch and live, and working with large central teams to support internal teams.
Location:
Los Angeles preferred (as the team and product needs dictate).

The overall market range for roles in this area of Netflix is typically $240,000 – $1,000,000.
