Sr. Project Manager II

Our client a highly experienced construction project manager with design-build expertise to join its team in Los Angeles, CA for a Sr. Project Manager II opportunity. The Sr. Project Manager II is an advanced level, full-time position responsible for managing and providing overall oversight to Owner Authorized Representatives (OARs) on educational facility construction projects. The position is scheduled to begin as soon as possible.The ideal candidate will have demonstrated leadership and management experiences and capabilities with a proven record to effectively manage comprehensive modernization (design-bid-build) projects valued between $75M and $150M. Additionally, they will have the ability to manage 4-5 OARs with 20-25 projects.Primary Responsibilities:oManages and provides construction oversight to OARs.oResolves complex construction project-related issues, disputes, and disagreements.oDevelops, assigns, and monitors performance of OARs relative to assigned construction projectsoReviews status and overall construction project progress relative to submitted construction schedules.oReviews change orders from all construction projects and assesses their impact on the Client.oAssists regional directors and other facilities management staff with bid and contract planning.oAssesses bid specifications for District need and probability of completion under stated timeline.oReviews status and monitors variances of the construction project database relative to scheduling and cost control reporting.oReviews and verifies submitted applications for payment and performs overall fiscal management of multiple construction projects.oProvides functional direction over areas of responsibility including construction project schedules, cost control, dispute resolution, contract administration, and quality control.oReviews and monitors overall administration of contracts for the architect and related consultants.oCoordinates program activities with other organizational branches and departments such as the Office of Environmental Health and Safety, Design and A/E Technical Support, Asset Management Branch, Facilities Contract Administration, Inspection Unit, Maintenance and Operations, and local districts.oReviews and takes recommended actions in resolving disputes relative to construction projects.oDevelops and recommends internal policies and procedures.oPerforms other related duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications & Experience:o17 years of full-time paid professional project/construction management experienceo5 years of experience in managing large programs with projects having construction values more than $60 million (not cumulative)o5 years of experience in educational facility construction or public works projectsoGraduation from a recognized college or university with a bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering or Construction ManagementoPossession of a valid Certified Construction Manager (CCM) credential by the Construction Manager Certification Institute (CMCI) may be substituted for the required educationPreferred Qualifications:oDesign-build experienceoAdditional courses in Business Administration, Public Relations, Accounting, School Finance, Personnel Management and Communication are preferred.oExperience utilizing Building Information Modeling (BIM)oExperience in Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certified projects and/or the Collaborative for High Performing Schools (CHPS)oExperience with Division of the State Architect (DSA) construction/design processesoA valid Certificate of Registration as an Architect by the California Architectural Board or Professional Engineer by the California State Board for Professional Engineers and Land SurveyorsIt’s 2019 and the year you can change your life!
