Job Purpose: The Sr.
Technical Design Manager is accountable for overseeing the translation of design vision into technical specifications for the production of garments.
The Sr.
Manager will oversee the entire staff of Technical Designers and provide fitting expertise and overall directives to deliver fit quality consistency and brand integrity.
The Sr.
Manager will also be responsible for developing and implementing best practices and improved processes to help streamline and optimize fitting processes.
Deliverables: * Establish and communicate to Technical Designers the goals and expectations for each fitting to ensure desired results are met* Serves as the subject matter expert for any fit related issues* Oversee and approve fittings prior to and through the production phase, verifying that fits and measurements are consistent* Provide technical direction to the team and vendors on corrective actions needed to bring samples to Forever 21 fit standards* Anticipate and resolve any pre-production and production issues while in the fit process* Works closely with design team to ensure best technical design outcome* Work with Senior Buyers or Division Merchandise Managers to enhance existing fit process and procedures as the business evolves, while driving to elevate the quality of the garments* Manage the scheduling of fit models and approve their hours worked within well-established budgets* Develop grading guidelines to ensure quality is kept consistent for the entirety of the production phase* Mentor, guide, and develop team members through on the job training, evaluating, and providing feedback Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications: * Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Design or Certification in Apparel Manufacturing, Design, Patternmaking, or equivalent* Must have 12+ years of experience as a Technical Designer and at least 3-5 years of experience managing a team of* Technical Designers* Must have extensive knowledge of fabric and trim types used for multiple categories of apparel product development* Must have extensive knowledge in patternmaking including grading, construction, and fit* Must have extensive knowledge of construction standards and manufacturing methods* Experience using Web PDM is a plus* Must possess a keen eye to identify fit issues and recommend solutions* Must have an excellent sense of current fashion trends in the market place* Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills We’re excited to work with you because you represent: * Customer Obsession; you know who your customer is and that working in service of them is working in service of our end consumer.* Commitment to Top Talent; you are passionate about working with the best possible people.
