Sr Manager, Allocation Strategy – Remote

The Senior Manager Allocation Strategy is a role that will focus on data analytics and creative solutions, toward the goal of maximizing sales through optimizing inventory. This role will be required to build a culture of continuous improvement across the Allocation team, through sound analytics and methodologies with new and innovative ideas regularly presented to upper management to drive positive change. The Senior Manager of Allocation Strategy will require an intellectual curiosity that will search out new ideas, identify gaps and areas of improvement then propose implementing change. Harbor Freight is currently in the process of growing the network so this role will also be heavily involved in implementing change to assist the changing need of the customers, growing network, and the transformation of the Inventory department. This person will be responsible for providing strategic support and creative thought leadership to drive the Inventory department to achieve world class results. Main objective will be to develop strategic methodologies of SKU Inventory management that optimizes store sales while also allowing for the continued high growth into new products. Reporting to the Sr. Director of Planning and Allocation, this position requires development of new analytics, models, and simulations, the optimization of processes, procedures, and workflows to take the Inventory Allocation and it down steam partners to the next level.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop strategy for effective SKU optimization as it pertains to Allocation
  • Deploy best business practices for optimizing sales through effective Inventory management through different assortments and techniques on a sku/store basis
  • Ensure compliance with core company values and drive continuous Improvement across the Allocation department, provide those strategic changes with cross functional partners and department leaders to Implement over the enterprise in a rapid environment
  • Highly team-oriented in nature, collaborate and work cross-functionally, presenting him/herself as an Inventory leader to partner with DC Partners, Store Operations, Merchant teams, Forecasting, and Purchasing.
  • Analyze large amounts of information to discover trends, patterns and opportunities, provide feedback to key stakeholders in search of analytical-based recommendations/solutions then drive proposed strategies.
  • Provide direction and leadership to deliver high-level analytics services based on scientific methodologies and tools.
  • Help develop, implements, and disseminates metrics/KPIs about performance, sales, and outcomes including dashboards and data visualization toolsets.
  • Develop strategies based on analytics for new and existing processes and systems
  • Function as a technical point of escalation, analytical problem solver and technical translator to internal teams and clients.
  • Provide ongoing strategic direction/vision for advanced analytics, scoring and strategy insights.
  • Work closely with the internal Supply Chain Operations, Financial/Operations Analyst and Information Technology teams.
  • Build and develop relationships with operations business directors and information technology, ensuring that overall data proposition is relevant and aligns with overall business strategy.
  • Drive the use of advanced, rule based decision engines, scoring and optimal communication channel (chat, email, SMS, Slack, Zoom, letter, etc.) across the organization.
  • Provide independent guidance, recommendations and analytical data to discuss with the Inventory Leadership team regularly.

Requirements:

Job Qualifications – Education and Experience

  • 5+ years of progressive responsibility within Business analytics, Inventory, Supply Chain or Retail Management
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering or Business, Masters preferred

  • Advance knowledge of statistics and the software that is used to derive the value
  • Possess an ability to successfully work with other team members across departments and multiple levels of authority
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with ability to present ideas and new concepts clearly and concisely
  • Experience presenting to various levels of management
