Sourcing Manager – MTO (Made to Order Upholstery)

Lulu & Georgia is looking for an organized, detail-oriented, and hard-working Sourcing Manager to join our growing team! You will work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment where multitasking and problem-solving are key. This position requires extensive knowledge in the manufacturing and sourcing of Made to Order upholstery, case goods, and fabric sourcing. Excellent organization skills and dedication to due dates are key! You will implement new growth strategies to cultivate, build, and grow relationships with new manufacturers and suppliers. In this role, youll report to our Director of Product and work closely with our CEO, VP, Buyers, sourcing agencies, and operations team. This is a great role for someone who has a passion for product sourcing, product development, negotiations, and building new and lasting relationships with manufacturers to foster mutual growth.

Responsibilities:

  • Support/lead procurement efforts for assigned profit enhancement initiatives for domestic and international made-to-order upholstered furniture, fabrics, and domestic case goods
  • Builds/maintains positive business relationships with category suppliers
  • Prepare business case, cost/benefit, and benefit realization analyses
  • Develop negotiation strategies and lead negotiations to obtain the most favorable terms with suppliers
  • Research and present development and execution of supplier management strategy and program to CEO and Director of Product
  • Audits contract pricing and addresses unfavorable variances
  • Monitors and measures supplier performance and compliance; identifies and recommends ways to resolve performance issues
  • Works with suppliers to understand the key value and cost drivers of relevant operations and categories
  • Uses a deep understanding of the supply market or the ability to analyze supply markets, including raw material trends and cost drivers
  • Evaluate the current supplier portfolio and introduce new suppliers to balance the sourcing matrix with strategic goals for optimal growth. Implements and oversees supplier management program for key indirect supplier partners
  • Improve and reduce product development lead time
  • Work closely with the Director of Product and Buyers on product development and coordinate with suppliers who can best execute aesthetics and meet target costs
  • Deliver aesthetically correct samples that meet the intended vision and quality standards
  • Manages and facilitates all development projects for MTO upholstery for current and future collections
  • Communicates projections for all reorders, fabric projections, and yields needed for in-line upholstery and fabrics, while streamlining fabric uniformity across the current establishment of new assortment skus
  • Manages swatch program for in-line fabrics, coordinates, and communicates aids in and setup for all swatch distribution to cross-functional partners and internal teams
  • Issues and tracks POs of reorders for any domestic stocked upholstery items
  • Allocates designs to appropriate sources that support growth strategies for new and existing suppliers
  • Implements and manages overall and individual testing protocols and compliance for all manufactured MTO items and fabrics for frames

Requirements:

  • 5+ years experience in made-to-order upholstery, case goods sourcing and product development required knowledge of upholstery and case good construction and manufacturing
  • Understanding of raw materials properties wood, metals, natural materials, and finishes required
  • Deep knowledge of product packaging and product testing and compliance
  • Logistics and supply chain management and coordination experience
  • Effective communicator with internal and external parties must have the ability to work in/with cross-functional teams
  • Understanding of technical drawings, CAD, and specialized designer communication
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving, creative thinker, and able to adapt quickly to changes
  • Detail-oriented and driven by deadlines and a high sense of urgency
  • Adaptable and flexible to achieve company goals and objectives
  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, email, telephone) with strong attention to detail
  • Strong negotiation skills, and established relationships with key suppliers and manufacturers of quality goods
  • Superior organizational and time management skills
  • Holds strong relationships working with major factories and manufacturers
  • Self-starter and capable of working while managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment
  • Strong interpersonal / teamwork skills
  • Deep understanding of fabrics, testing, construction, and sourcing in domestic and international markets
  • Analytical and ability to problem-solve and provide creative suggestions and solutions
