Shift Supervisor

Shift supervisor is responsible for running the restaurant in conjunction with the General Manager. The shift supervisor is responsible for the hourly FOH schedule to be created and posted for the team. The shift supervisor is responsible for counting the cash drawer at the beginning and end of the shift, collecting all monies owed from FOH team members, and closing out the day. The shift supervisor should be able to open and close the restaurant in the absence of the General Manager. The shift supervisor is responsible for guest recovery and should be well versed in POS system used at Poppy+ Rose (TOAST). The shift supervisor is expected to know how to effectively work in each FOH role, and is expected to step into a role only under extreme circumstances. The shift supervisor should be professional and have a hunger to be in hospitality. Our ideal candidate would be looking to grow their managerial skills while in this position, to get promoted to a more senior role in the future. 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Helps with overall front-of-house operation and dining room/patio service.
  • Helps management train staff and keep existing employees on task
  • Manages floor when FOH managers are on break
  • Take orders accurately on our POS system
  • Runs food to the correct table in accordance with our guidelines
  • Make various drinks to specification
  • Bus tables and assist with the cleaning, sanitation and organization of the dining room, FOH supplies and other areas, as needed
  • Perform side work such as stamping to-go boxes, polishing silverware, etc.
  • Performs additional responsibilities as requested by managers.
  • Ensures that food and beverages are properly stored.
  • Participates in establishing and maintaining a friendly and cooperative atmosphere in the restaurant.
  • Ensures that CDC guidelines are maintained by staff and guests.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Excellent customer service skills 
  • Great with people
  • Professional communication skills required
  • Food Handlers and RBS certification required
  • Ability to take direction
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to work efficiently and stay focused under pressure
  • Must be able to perform repetitive tasks and stand for extended periods of time
