Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a Senior Project Controls Manager to work in our project office near Burbank Airport in Burbank, CA.

The ideal candidate will be a dynamic individual who has successful experience working with senior leadership, program managers, project managers, staff, auditors, and other support team members dealing with confidential / sensitive information.

Will be skilled at encouraging, empowering, engaging, and motivating subordinates including successful identification and mentorship of potential leaders, delegating responsibilities / duties; and getting quality and timely results.

Responsible for providing supervision and technical direction to the schedule, budget and cost control function and/or staff in support of multifaceted Replacement Passenger Terminal (RPT) Program.

Additional position details:

Candidate must possess people management skills leading a qualified staff to establish capital improvement program and project budgets and costs, analyze and forecast budget estimate at completion, forecast project schedules and variances, review and estimate change proposals and develop ‘what if’ scenarios.

Other requirements are; excellent time management skills, writing and oral communicating skills, analytical and interpersonal skills.

Must exhibit professionalism and a willingness to train and mentor others.

Interfaces and coordinates project controls with finance and accounting department representatives managing direct, indirect/expense and overhead costs and activities supporting related programs.

Support the development and implementation of reports which address current program and project status including Schedules, Budgets, Commitments, Costs to Date, and Estimates at Completion, Cash Flow Analysis and Forecasting.

Program has multiple funding sources, multiple fiscal years, and multiple phases.

The accounting system for the project must be created to track as such.

Creates, develops and maintains a cost/schedule control system to provide project managers and the program managers with timely and pertinent decision-making tools.

Thorough knowledge of diversified capital improvement program controls systems, principles and practices, plus the ability to solve complex problems, develop and implement procedures and maintain liaison with both internal and external customers.

Complexity & Decision Making Authority: Responsible for others who perform technical assignments of various complexities.

Oracle Unifier is the RPT program’s selected project management software, and thus experience populating and navigating the system essential.

Creation or modification of business process inside Unifier is a further need.

Establishing a Risk, Trend, and Change Management system with the aim of identifying issues early enough to take appropriate action.

The risk, trend and change management system shall be a continuously evolving information system that will inform project and executive level staff.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering or Construction Management and/or Business and Finance degree; or equivalent.

Candidate should have 10+ years demonstrated equivalent work experience overseeing project controls for construction projects (above $500 million is desired).

Position requires a working knowledge of computer MS Office/Office 365 software including word processing, spreadsheets and databases.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience managing the preparation of cost estimates for airport capital improvement programs at the planning, design, and construction levels.

Experience in working with a variety of project delivery methods i.e.

design-bid-build, design build, P3 etc.

Progressive Design

Ability to identify trends and recognize potential program and/or project impacts.

Extensive experience and understanding of project control methodology
