The Fulfillment Center Systems team at Zulily is looking for a passionate and innovative Senior Software Development Manager to design, build, and support the systems used to ship hundreds of millions of packages a year from the Qurate fulfillment network.
The Fulfillment Center Systems team is responsible for a diverse set of concerns within our global FC network – this includes algorithmic route optimizations for pickers, integrating mechanical systems, connecting to corporate APIs, optimizing UX for learnability and throughput, reporting real-time workforce productivity data, and solving the challenging problems of the physical world.
We are seeking candidates with the passion and experience to embrace and lead a team in this space which is both wide and deep.
Responsibilities include strategic planning, product definition, project management for software within the team, quality of the software development process, and recruiting.
We are looking for a leader of leaders with a passion for building world class fulfillment systems.
You will work closely with engineers, engineering leaders, product managers, operations partners, and executives to create and drive your product roadmap that includes transformational initiatives for our fulfillment network.
You will engage and influence senior stakeholders across our organization to achieve your goals.
You will drive engineering excellence by implementing best practices for agile development, testing, deployment, monitoring, and operational support.
You will recruit and develop top engineering talent and grow engineering leaders.
The ideal candidate has experience leading a larger (15) engineering team in a build-oriented environment with operational support responsibilities.
Management of remote teams and multiple stakeholders is a plus.
He or she would also have experience developing systems in the supply chain and/or warehouse space.
Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline
• 10 years of experience as a software developer
• 4 years of people management experience including manager of managers
• Experience leader a 15 software engineering team with operational support responsibilities.
• Track record of delivering results with material business impact at scale
• Experience recruiting and developing top engineering talent.
• Passion for creating highly reliable systems though both design, infrastructure, and operational practices.
• Established expertise in best practices in CI/CD, TDD frameworks, source code repositories, monitoring, SOA, and scalability.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills – can communicate clearly with engineers, business partners, and executives.
• Occasional travel is involved, including international.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in the supply chain and/or warehouse systems space.
• Experience managing remote software engineering teams.
