The Senior Manager of Environmental, Health, Safety & Security (EHSS) will be responsible for ensuring that regulatory requirements are met and exceeded to continually reduce risk and cost associated with injuries and unsafe behaviors of our employees, contractors, and visitors as well as environmental fines or citations. This role will lead the effort to ensure compliance, build a strong safety/security culture and reduce injuries and damages/loss to property. You will support our 5 California bakeries (3 in the LA Area and 2 in N. CA) and 1 bakery in the Chicagoland area.

Accountabilities: 

  • Champion safety culture with zero accident mentality.
  • Develop, integrate, and manage written Environmental and Safety programs, policies, and procedures that comply with legal and corporate policies and guidelines.
  • Develop and manage EHS processes throughout the company.
  • Develop a strong relationship and facilitate employee-led behavior-based safety processes in a team-based environment.
  • Lead Bakery Teams and conduct regular environmental and safety audits, identify, and evaluate hazards in the workplace and recommend solutions to minimize or eliminate risk.
  • Complete necessary regulatory and internal reports, forms, etc.
  • Help manage and maintain with Bakery Team’s existing Environmental Compliance programs (PSM, SWPPP, Air, Water, Waste, etc.)
  • Research federal, state, and local regulations to define existing and upcoming legal obligations and requirements of associated programs and policies. Experience with local Air Districts (e.g. SCAQMD, SJCAPCD), SWRCB, DTSC, CUPA, and CARB rules and regulations
  • Proactively identify opportunities for improvement in all areas of safety and environmental compliance.
  • Identify, build, and manage site EHS personnel and personnel performing the activities though out the organization.
  • Support all accident and near-miss investigations to uncover the root causes and track the completion of corrective actions.
  • Track, analyze, and report safety performance results.
  • Assist with managing and facilitating workers’ compensation cases with Bakery leadership.
  • Ability to travel at least 20% of the time to visit supported bakeries.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in security, safety, or related field or equivalent experience
  • M.S. in Occupational Safety or related discipline is a plus.
  • A minimum of 7 years of comprehensive environmental and safety experience with an extensive background in a manufacturing environment preferably the food industry
  • Certifications (ASP, CSP, CHMM, REM) are also a plus

Salary Range: $95,000 – $150,000

The final determination of a successful candidate’s starting pay will vary based on a number of factors, including, but not limited to location, shift, education, skill, and experience within the job or the industry. The pay scale listed for this position is generally for candidates that meet the specified qualifications and requirements listed In this specific job description. Additional pay may be determined for those candidates that exceed these specified qualifications and requirements.
