Senior Director II, Product Management — Marketing Technology

The Walmart marketing product management team is responsible for building and enhancing the next generation global capabilities for our rapidly expanding customer base. Walmart puts customers first and our marketing efforts lead our digital dialogue with them. As a Senior Director II of product management, you will play a unique role to engage with a broad array of stakeholders to envision, launch, test and optimize our next generation of platforms and solutions. In addition to product and technical responsibilities, you will also be accountable for the business outcomes of your solutions. Our Marketing team has flexibility on location, for most of our openings, you can live within driving distance to one of our hubs: Bentonville, AR, Hoboken, NJ, San Bruno, CA, Sunnyvale, CA or Los Angeles, CA. We’re moving toward 3 days in the office per week, with flexibility.
Responsibilities
- Deep domain experience across a wide array of marketing technology solutions spanning marketing channels (such as SEM, SEO, display advertising, paid social, affiliates, etc.) as well as the horizontal platforms that drive them.
- Lead and hire a team of product managers to drive engineering deliverables and KPIs across all performance marketing channels.
- Advocate planning and continuous improvement by setting and communicating clear and aligned goals and monitoring progress. Develop and implement plans and practices to ensure others have the information, resources, implementation time, and talent needed to succeed. Embrace and encourage diverse perspectivesand ideas.
- Build diverse, high-performing teams that accomplish organizational changes, goals, and priorities. Ensure strategies, change initiatives, and competitive information are communicated in clear and compelling ways. Listen to, leverage, and promote the diverse ideas, perspectives, and contributions of others across the business.
- Develop talent and ensure succession planning for own organization that increases effectiveness, builds diversity, and enhances bench strength. Identify, utilize, and integrate associates’ strengths to produce improved results. Create an environment where people and processes are used effectively to improve associate performance and achieve desired results throughout own organization. Mentor, guide, and sponsor the development of key talent.
- Create product strategies that align with the company strategies and lead to the achievement of business priorities. Assess deliverables against leading industry practices and implement plans that leverage company advantages. Work through different strategic options and determine their intended and unintended implications, and apply to business planning.
- Be the nexus of communication and planning between executive business leaders, marketers, data scientists and engineers. Lead each of these audiences with confidence and authority.
- Evaluate product development initiatives across multiple business categories to ensure they are consistent with established trends and organizational strategy.
- Lead product and technology reviews, initiate strategic technology partnerships and RFP processes. Drive buy vs. build decisions at all levels of the technology stack.
- Direct analysis and reporting of strategic data to drive innovation and exploration of new product development opportunities. Undertake data analysis and validation including troubleshooting of issues as they arise.
- Understand and influence business priorities as well as technical architecture.
- Communicate with precision, economy of expression and an innate ability to reduce complexity.
- Lead and drive consensus in a matrixed organization with multiple stakeholders.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
- 15+ years experience in product management, consulting, or related field.
- Ability to drive teams toward a shared vision with velocity and possess an indomitable bias toward action in the face of ambiguity.
- Experience with or Marketing technology or Ad Tech, and experience with multiple marketing channels such as SEM, SEO, display advertising, paid social, affiliates, content and influencer, email, push, SMS etc.
- High tolerance for risk; low fear of failure.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability to understand and discuss technical concepts, manage tradeoffs and evaluate opportunistic new ideas with internal and external partners.
- Ability to quickly establish credibility with software engineers and architects, as well as non-technical stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills. Ability to cater messages to the audience. including all levels of the organization (from executives to software engineers at implementation level).
- Comfortable defining and owning the accountability related to a portfolio of work which contains both incremental gains and game-changing big bets.
- Experience driving large cross-organizational projects with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands on experience building software products in a globally-scaled environment.
- Experience in eCommerce or retail is a bonus.
- MBA or equivalent experience driving business solutions.

The annual salary range for this position is $240,000.00-$360,000.00
Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance incentives.
Additional compensation for certain positions may also include:
– Regional Pay Zone (RPZ) (based on location)
– Stock equity incentives
