About the opportunity

The Director, Growth Initiatives will be responsible for sourcing, researching, and creating new business lines at Ontra.

This role will work closely with teams and leadership across the organization to develop a deep understanding of the unique needs of our customers and develop services that Ontra can offer to meet those needs.

This person must be able to manage cross-functional teams in order to create strong performance and execute on company goals.

Upon successfully launching a business line out of pilot, an individual in this role will have the ability to transition to a General Manager of that new business line.

This is a great opportunity for someone who has a track record of successfully launching business initiatives and is looking for an entrepreneurial role with a high degree of autonomy.

The Director, Growth Initiatives will report directly to the VP of Strategy, and location is flexible.*

What you’ll do

  • Research & Development: Communicating with stakeholders to understand our customers’ problems and developing and implementing solutions to drive value for the business
  • Management & Execution: Taking a business idea from ideation to implementation and managing cross functional teams in order to achieve our goals 
  • Cross-functional collaboration: Work with stakeholders across multiple functions within the organization in the process of identifying and launching business opportunities
  • Innovation: Desire and ability to recognize areas of opportunity and improvement and capitalize on them

What you’ll bring

  • Management skills: Proven track record of managing cross-functional teams to hit a specific output is a must.
  • Understanding of customer development : A deep desire and competency in reaching out to strangers, speaking to strangers, understanding their problems and needs, and figuring out how to translate those needs into a service and/or product that Ontra can sell.
  • Entrepreneurial : Ability and desire to operate before fundamental questions have been resolved and processes have been established; ability to think on-the-fly and outside-of-the-box.
  • Analytical: Ability to use data and analytics to develop a deep understanding of the unique needs of the target markets, quantify those needs, and translate those needs into a service that Ontra can sell profitably. 
  • Proactive/Low maintenance : Ability to operate with low levels of oversight; self-directed.
  • Strategic : Ability to work closely with company leadership in making recommendation about verticals to pursue and GTM in each vertical
  • Agility : Fast mover who can figure out quickly what’s working and what’s not and collaborate with prospects and internal stakeholders to make the necessary changes to achieve product/market fit.
  • Teamwork : Ability to communicate with and work across multiple Ontra teams including sales, marketing, product, legal partnerships, and account management to help the company determine which verticals to enter and how.
  • Executive presence: Ability and comfort working with the following groups of individuals at an executive level: customers, VP and C-Level executives.
