Responsibilities
This position can be based in any of the following locations: Chicago, IL; Los Angeles, CA; San Francisco, CA; Washington, D.C.
Wholesale Market Analysis team Senior Consultants support project teams both at client sites and internally.
Responsibilities will include client management, solution implementation and generation of project results.
As a Senior Consultant on the Wholesale Market Analysis team, a key function of your role will be to create and present quality deliverables that support essential project workstreams.
You will gather and analyze data, identify gaps and trends, and make recommendations related to baseline performance and structure, as well as established best practices and benchmarks.
Responsibilities include:
Performing data collection, manipulation, and analyses, which may involve spreadsheet and database creation and data base management.
Validate accuracy of data for modeling purposes.
Conducting detailed fact finding, research, and analysis through web-based research and interviews on regulatory policies and filings and market trends.
Supporting the assessment and development of business strategies, organizational structures, and business processes for energy-related organizations.
Assist and participate in communicating solutions, strategies, and analysis to clients through reports, presentations, and other documents for internal/external client use.
Assist in the development and use of analytical models, programming, and simulations to forecast energy market prices, and conduct research.
Actively assist in the development and creation of tools to improve productivity and accuracy.

As you hone your project management skills, leadership abilities and the aptitude for managing multiple workstreams, you will have the opportunity to progress to the Managing Consultant level.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a business, policy, environmental, economics, finance, engineering, science and/or related discipline.
At least 3+ years of experience in a related field (e.g.
business strategy, energy).
Demonstrated experienced using analytical models and modeling simulations to forecast market prices or equivalent financial data.
Demonstrated technical ability to construct or design systems architecture or industrial process technologies.
Strong interest in energy efficiency, renewable energy, distributed generation, and advanced technologies.
Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
High degree of self-confidence and determination.
Highly developed organizational and management skills.
Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office Suite products.
Travel required
Preferred Qualifications
In addition to the above listed:
Masters of Science (MS) in business, policy, environmental, economics, finance, engineering, science and/or related discipline Experience with electric utilities or power plant finance/development Knowledge of North American wholesale power markets Experience with power plant financial or dispatch modeling Experience with PROMOD, Plexos, Aurora or other production cost modeling software
