Senior Communications Manager The Senior Communications Manager is a temporary full-time employee reporting to the Director of Marketing and Communications.

This position is responsible for the creative development and implementation of all Client communications efforts.Job Description (including but not limited to the following):Position the organization as the preeminent organization across all communication media.

Cultivate and steward strong external relationships with industry professionals to ensure active and timely Client media opportunities.Develop compelling brand and data-driven stories and consumer campaigns that resonate with target audiencesDrive brand development and storytelling across public relations and content vehiclesBuild a broad understanding of the client’s program in order to demonstrate expertise with the mediaTrain the Executive Leadership, staff, and volunteers as needed so that they too can maintain a strong media presence as experts in the client’s movementUnderstand and interpret how client benefits target market and address this knowledge in brand and communications strategiesIdentify and pursue opportunities for collaboration with other organizations as related to brand and communications strategiesSupport promotion of cultivation and stewardship of client events, with a special focus on creating media but through relevant storytelling and outcome-oriented messagingActively create media opportunities and arrange interviews with all levels of staff.Maintain a media database, corporate marketing contact database, and media trackingUtilize expertise and experience to manage, oversee, and align consistent and cohesive client messaging both internally and externally; and maintain alignment with the national brand voice.Develop, manage, and execute an annual strategic communications plan for client to span across all communication media (online and offline) and reach appropriate target audiences, based upon specific performance goals.

Evaluate the success of various strategies and provide and implement recommendations for improvement.Proactively provide innovation across all communication vehicles that client uses (offline and online) and provide competitive insight into client communications and branding strategiesDevelop and maintain council messaging for all divisions of the organization, in particular implementing key national campaigns and efforts into local campaigns, communication, and cultureLead the client’s broader community as a visionary communications expert.Write interesting and effective content for use across all communication channels.

Individually responsible for press releases, media kits and related collateralsOversee audit and analyzation of client’s communication efforts, use of brand voiceOversee the development of and messaging that create a cohesive brand and message for print and all offline communication vehiclesMaintain client website and related microsites, social media channels and email publications and communicationActively provide strategic leadership among divisions staff, serve as division representative on event and department committees as neededOther duties as assigned by the Director of Marketing and CommunicationsSkills and RequirementsBachelor’s degree, preferably in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations or related field7-10 years of demonstrated, progressive experience in public/media relations, communications, and/or marketing.Current and active relationships with LA-based media strongly desiredKnowledge of Mail Chimp, Google Analytics, Cision (or similar applications).

Strong skills with social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.).

HTML, CMS, email marketing, print production and web development skills a plusComputer knowledge with Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Expressions (or similar software) a plus.

Also experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud, a plus and High proficiency in Microsoft Office applicationsExcellent business acumen and broad understanding of marketing and communicationProven ability to successfully handle multiple projects and meet critical deadlinesAbility to lead others in a goal and action-oriented mannerExcellent organization and project management skillsOutstanding editing, proofreading and written and oral communication skillsStrong analytical thinking, problem solving and communications skills (written and oral)Must be a team player with excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to relationship-buildingResults-oriented and a passion for creativityFlexibility to attend evening and/or weekend meetings and/or eventsDedication to customer service in all interaction, understanding and experienceEffective decision making with a high level of personal integrity and professionalismNon-profit experience a plusAble to pass a criminal background checkPossess a positive attitude with strong work ethic, integrity and honesty.Must be flexible, adaptable and willing to thrive in an ever changing/fast-paced environment.Develop and maintain sensitivity to employee diversity in the work place.This is a temporary position located in the Downtown Los Angeles area.
