Essential Job Duties
- Directly supervises Project Safety Managers.
- Applies supervisory principles and techniques in building and maintaining an effective work force.
- Monitors, coordinates, and controls the activities of the PSMs.
- Ensures consistency in the application of the LAWA CSPR and other safety & security regulations and requirements throughout the program.
- Evaluates workloads and assignments to make necessary adjustments as needed and in consultation with the Program Safety Manager.
- Reviews weekly safety reports.
- Reviews entries to the incident log.
- Walks projects with PSMs on a regular recurring basis.
- Reviews observations and THA reviews made by PSMs.
- Reviews project monthly metric reports with PSMs.
- Provides PSM evaluations on a regular and recurring basis.
- Assigned as member and or co-chair to The Development Group Construction Safety Advisory Council.
- Work with PSMs, Contractor Safety Team, LAWA Inspection Team, Project Team, and others to ensure assigned projects are implementing effective safety programs.
- May be assigned projects as the Project Safety Manager.
- Meet with LAWA inspection on a regular and recurring basis to ensure consistency in application of the LAWA CSPR.
- Review written Safety Plans and verify results of safety performance and compliance in the field on an ongoing basis to evaluate the effectiveness of the program.
- Ensure PSMs are assisting the Project/Construction Manager to verify that contractors comply with written documentation requirements including weekly “toolbox” meetings, new employee orientation, daily safety inspection reports, any accident/incident and related investigation reports, provision of “competent” or authorized persons documentation including training records and Job Hazard Analysis (JHAs).
- Attend Project Progress and Project Safety Committee meetings as directed by the Program Safety.
- Manager to monitor the ongoing safety effort of the Construction Manager and contractor.
- Attend and participate in the Monthly All-Hands Safety Meeting to discuss general program safety concerns and successes as well as present updates and information on safety regulations and requirements including a monthly training program component on relevant safety subject matter.
- Coordinate with management to promote the proactive and behavior based TDG Safety Program both internally and externally (e.g., National
- Safety Council, trade and professional organizations, etc.) and to bring positive publicity to the program and TDG.
- Contribute to the advancement of The Development Group’s goals through commitment to productive collaboration with all stakeholders
- Provide10/30-hour Cal OSHA training.
- Writing and disseminating weekly safety reports for each assigned projects.
- Providing observations and THA audits through the “LAWA safety observation” platform.

The base salary range for this position is $52.88 per hour to $82.64 per hour. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
- High school diploma
- Board of Certified Safety Professional (BCSP) Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or Certified Safety Manager
- Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat Pro software
- Supervisory experience of other safety professionals
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize competing responsibilities
- 5 years of verifiable professional safety experience on heavy construction projects, preferably in an aviation environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work weekends, nights, and multiple shifts as necessary
- Solid people skills with professional demeanor
- Authorized in OSHA Outreach Construction Training within 6 months of hire.
- Analytical reasoning and problem solving capabilities
- Ability to write reports based on safety observations, incorporate photos, and distribute
Ideally, You’ll Also Have:
- Large-scale construction management type software such as PM Web, Prolog, etc.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate safety policies and practices.
- Balanced approach to technical, business and people aspects of business
- Bi-lingual a plus
