Overview
Reporting to the Senior Regulatory Officer, the Regulatory Officer will work in SMBC’s Planning Department to assist with West Coast regulatory examinations, governance control, maintenance of a governance and regulatory framework in coodinating with PDAD-New York (Planning Department Americas Division), and also works with PDAD-Corporate Services for Los Angeles and San Francisco branches to meet general administration needs and facilities services.
Responsibilities
- Coordinates the bank examination process for exams and reviews conducted by Federal Reserve Bank-San Francisco and California Department of Financial Protection and Innovation
- Central coordinator with West Coast regulatories
- Administers and monitors West Coast governance framework to support best practices, organizing the monthly Governance Control Committee meeting
- Assist with compliance related activities in West Coast offices, and work closely with business and compliance personnel
- Provide support in Corporate Services and other Planning activities
- Assist with other ad hoc regulatory / planning related projects as necessary
- Contribute to the enhancement and maintenance of policy and procedures of PDAD-LA
- Timely and effective communication with internal stakeholders to confirm applicability and develop further understanding of the impact a given regulatory change may have on activities of the firm
Qualifications
- Strong written, presentation, and oral communication skills with an ability to communicate effectively with all levels across the organization, Team player, and ability to work collaboratively
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively in order to meet strict and competing deadlines
- Proficient in organizing and tracking progress on multiple tasks and projects with strong follow through and time management skills
- Maintain high level of confidentiality; unquestionable character, integrity and professionalism
- Working knowledge of U.S. banking laws and governance related regulatory requirements
- Excellent communication, analytical and writing skills. Strategic thinker; Team player and ability to work collaboratively
- Strong organization and time management skills, with attention to detail
Work Experience:
- 7 to 10 years of specialized experience in Financial Services
- 2+ years’ experience within Compliance related work or Coporate Grovernance department
