The American Heart Association (AHA) has an excellent opportunity for a Regional Development Director, Corporate Relations within our Western States Region.

The location is flexible to locations within the Western States region with cost-effective access to travel across the territory served and convenient proximity to a major airport.

Reporting to the Vice President, Corporate Relations, the Corporate Relations Business Development Director has region-wide responsibilities for the independent identification and acquisition of call to action and consumer promotion campaigns, partnering with field development staff in identifying and advancing division-level sponsorship opportunities (highest levels and Cause) and developing customized plans and proposals for potential new corporate relationships with the AHA.

This position has a revenue goal exceeding $16 million net with the combination of directly acquired and field acquired new business opportunities.

Responsibilities

Essential Job Duties

• Individual New Business Pipeline Development Research and solicit a new business pipeline across the assigned region that is sufficiently able to generate the goaled revenue from new corporate sponsorships.

This represents a seamless combination of independent new business development (35%) and driving pipelines at the division level through leads generated from local staff (65%).

• Account Development Provide expert client-facing support in the field to identify and deliver the highest and best relationship between the company and the AHA.

Includes, but not limited to, six-figure and multi-year opportunities to drive mission and revenue goals for the AHA.

Ensures that all relationships adhere to AHA policies and guidelines, facilitates the approval process of proposals, letters of agreement and other key documents.

• Sales Planning Design, lead and drive a thorough sales process with each identified opportunity to ensure that each prospect is managed in the most strategic and efficient manner.

Includes the full continuum of the process from preparation, volunteer engagement, concept development, facilitating shared agreement on proposal and components, proposal development, negotiation to close and account transition and evaluation.

• Cross Collaboration Demonstrate advanced skills in communicating, influencing, and engaging all appropriate departments in moving opportunities forward and agreeing on deliverables, campaign development and pipeline opportunities.

Must demonstrate organizational savviness in involving departments across the region and National Center as appropriate.

• Innovation Identify, recommend, and lead opportunities to further the success of Corporate Relations.

Includes staying on the leading edge of external and internal trends and factors that influence the potential of creative corporate sponsorships and demonstrating the business literacy to package those into actionable proposals

Qualifications

A demonstrated track record that includes two (2) years or more experience with direct responsibity for

• Corporate account management, sales, high level revenue generation or marketing

• Strong presentation and communications skills

• Effective collaboration in a highly matrixed environment with the ability to listen and influence achievement of shared goals

• Demonstrated resourcefulness with ability to source internal and external subject matter expertise as needed

• Ability to delegate and accomplish goals through strong volunteer engagement

• Ability to manage priorities in a complex, fast-paced environment with excellent follow-through

Here are some of the preferred skills we are looking for

• Bachelor’s degree may be preferred in supporting the required level of skill, knowledge and experience required

• Knowledge of AHA’s mission and programs

• Experience in a national corporate environment
