Quality Assurance Manager – China

LOCATION: Mainland ChinaPOSITION: Quality Assurance Manager (China), Hardware & Cellular PVC DivisionCLASSIFICATION: Full-time ExemptREPORTS TO: COO – Hardware & Cellular PVC DivisionPOSITION SUMMARY:Seeking a strong leader for our Hardware & Cellular PVC Division (based in our China facility) who will oversee all quality assurance activities across our entire Chinese supply base. This position will also serve to enhance both the communication and the coordination with these suppliers, as it relates to effective sourcing and other assorted business activities.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:• Serve as the key representative for the division’s total quality management program in China.• Act as a key liaison between company leadership and the Chinese supply base. Focus on maintaining and developing long term relationships with current value chain stakeholders.• Manage a team of quality inspectors located across the region to ensure comprehensive quality compliance among all suppliers.• Manage and monitor all quality control processes by providing the necessary oversight and technical guidance for supplier manufacturing and production activities.• Maintain a continuous-improvement mindset. Look to identify ways in which things can be done more efficiently and cost-effectively. Recommend technical design or process changes to improve quality or performance.• Filter company product requirements into clear specifications that can beeasily understood by suppliers, resulting in robust quality and delivery.• Continuously monitor and evaluate suppliers across key performance areas such as quality, delivery, and cost.• Maintain current knowledge of external factors in the Chinese region that could affect supplier production, delivery, and pricing. Examples would include import regulations, taxes, tariffs, health concerns, power grid concerns, and any other political or economic variables that may apply.• Effectively locate and identify key suppliers as required, based on product offering, quality, delivery, and cost. Research and establish contacts with these potential new vendors to develop additional sources for materials.• Prepare and maintain all necessary reports as required by the COO. This could include both written and electronic reporting on supplier frequency checks, product and process specifications, supplier production status and performance histories, as well as material index pricing trends.• Work closely with the COO in the development of new products and/or product lines and channels, and work on development specifications for new products relevant to the global marketplace and the technical aspects of the product or product line.• Assist with various global compliance processes under the direction of the COO. Examples would include specific branding, packaging, labeling, and certification requirements. Contribute to the effort of ensuring that all regulatory requirements are adhered to for the proper global movement of products.• Stay informed on industry news and trends, products, services, competitors, and emerging technologies, and share relevant information as warranted.QUALIFICATIONS:• Strong knowledge of manufacturing and production processes, machining techniques, metal fabrication methods, thermal machining categorization, quality control, technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and other techniques for maximizing the effective distribution of hardware products within a total quality management system.• Working knowledge of enterprise resource planning (ERP) software systems. Experience with MS Dynamics AX is preferred.• Experience in using various MS Office software programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, etc.).• Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written form, interpret key reports, be well-organized, and work cohesively with other members of a strong performing team.• Possess a competent level of mathematical acumen.• Ability to live and reside in Mainland China.• Ability to periodically travel within Mainland China as required.• Demonstrated leadership and management skills.REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:• A Bachelor’s degree in engineering, materials management, quality, or other suitable field is required, as is a minimum of 5 years of work of experience in a leadership position within a manufacturing environment. A Master’s degree is preferred.• At least 10 years of manufacturing experience in a wide range of conventional and advanced metal fabrication methods and machining techniques. Experience with basic principles in the design and application of modern hinge and hardware production is preferred.• Fluency in both Mandarin and English is required.• Multi-cultural work experience is required.
