The Convergent Science Virtual Cancer Center (CSVCC) is an innovative program that will utilize professionals and convergent science to help accelerate emerging researchers’ development of innovative cancer treatments.

Convergent science incorporates the knowledge, methodology and prowess from an array of fields, including biology, chemistry, physics, technology and engineering to form novel frameworks to create scientific discovery and innovation.

In collaboration with members of an advisory board, we will identify and prioritize improving investigators’ scientific and career development roadblocks and then help establish a team of national professionals to guide their groundbreaking research!
The Program Manager plans, prioritizes, directs, and leads all aspects of a mid to large scale organizational program.

Leads and/or contributes to the short-term and long-term goals, design, development and implementation of program objectives, processes, and standards.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversees and/or manages the assigned recognized organizational program and has authority for day-to-day program operations and administration.
May coordinate program development or expansion.
Plans and implements program operations, determines and develops governance, processes and/or guidelines, coordinates program activities and timelines, and determines and organizes resources to meet program objectives.
Analyzes program activities, support program planning and evaluation activities, organizes the annual meeting with the Collaboration Council (CC) and the quarterly meetings for the Advisory Board (AB), schedules meetings of CSVCC leaders with the scholars.
Collaborates with key partners including other departments, leaders, representatives from external agencies/organizations in management to provide guidance, resolve issues, and expand the program.
Identifies and defines any logistics, action items, changes, or information needed to effectively manage the program.
Identifies growth opportunities and further efficiencies that impact the program and/or departments success and aids in development of strategic plans to achieve objectives.
Evaluates feasibility, forecasting financial impact and providing recommendations or making decisions to support the success of the program.
Interacts with colleagues to maintain and further develop program growth, community outreach activities, as well as relationship expansion and maintenance.
Identifies process improvement areas to create an efficient and robust CSCVV program.
Researches and analyzes data for evaluating performance of program or program operations, including quality and trends.
Makes recommendations to leadership and/or implements program changes based on findings.
Data compilation, assists with grant proposals, protocol development, scientific publication preparation, and presentations.
Coordinates pre award grant activities through analyzing budgets, compliance, progress reports.
In conjunction with leadership, responsible for planning, monitoring, and managing program fiscal budgets and financials, and resolves issues.
Assesses communication and training needs, develops and implements any applicable communication, education, training, on-boarding and/or mentorship pertaining to the CSVCC.
Provides frequent communication to departments and leaders across the organization.
Maintains data system integrity and ensures quality measures are followed based on departmental standard operating procedures.
May provide ad hoc reporting to support recommendations observed through trend analysis for future planning and enhancements.
Department-Specific Responsibilities:
Additional responsibilities that are only performed in the specific department(s) below:
Will administer the CSC education and training program office and will help in the day-to-day management of project activities, organize annual workshops, invite speakers, assist with budget management, and support and facilitate communication within the CSVCC.
Will report to the Associate Director of Research Administration and Operations, as well as the Director of CSVCC and will also have a matrix reporting line to CSVCC Leadership.
Will work collaboratively to provide leadership and mentorship to each Scholar, beginning with the completion of the intake with each scholar and the development of the initial Scholar Adaptive Catalysis of ConvErgent Research Training (ACERT) Impact Map (AIM).
Assist with creating agendas for meetings, organize the ACERT Horizons virtual training in coordination with CSC-Cancer, as well as organize the annual ACERT Horizons workshops.
Manage the budget for CSVCC, invite speakers, coordinate travel arrangements, process reimbursements and honorariums.
Manage budget and revenue by working with the leadership team to develop and administer the operating budget.
Responsible for review and approval of expenditures, including supplies, service agreements, lease agreements, check and travel requests, and purchase orders.
Work closely with the CSVCC leaders and the CSC Cancer Directors to coordinate and harmonize CSVCC activities and events.
Manage the Director’s Award Pilot for Expanded Research (DAPER) program and prepare progress reports.
Develop surveys to gather general feedback from all CSVCC participants annually, surveys to obtain evaluation of workshops and surveys to evaluate each ACERT Horizons virtual training session.
Customize surveys such as the TREC Baseline Evaluation Survey and TREC Follow-up Researcher Survey to evaluate the performance of the CSVCC.
Provide support to the CSVCC leaders in preparing the initial Scholars’ AIMs and their annual refinement.
Coordinate annual evaluation of Scholars’ progress and review of the AIMs, maintain Scholars’ training and evaluation records including presence at workshops and social events, compile list of outcomes and products that result from the Scholars’ participation in CSVCC activities such as joint publications, joint grant proposals, funding, new collaborations initiated, patents, commercialization, honors and awards, growth or leadership appointments, and other relevant data.
Keep track of the interactions between Scholars and other participants of the CSVCC in virtual communications platforms.

Education:
High School Diploma/GED, minimum.
Bachelor’s Degree Healthcare, Management, Business or related field, preferred.
Experience:
5 years of Management, Program or Project Management, or related experience.
