Girls on the Run offers fun, evidence-based after-school programs that inspire all girls to build their confidence, kindness, and decision-making skills. We serve girls* in the 3rd-8th grades in a region encompassing five Bay Area counties (Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, San Francisco, San Mateo).

Position Summary

Reporting to the Program Director, the Program Manager plays a critical role in ensuring Girls on the Run of the Bay Area achieves our program quality and impact goals by organizing and managing the program throughout the duration of our fall and spring program seasons. The role is responsible to recruit and build relationships with volunteers, school staff, and the wider community, and be a champion for the org within our region. The position provides opportunities for operational, volunteer, and project management. Some of the key responsibilities falling in these areas include:

Program Outreach and Site Management:

  • Along with Program team and staff, implement annual plan to achieve program goals by managing relationships with site liaisons, coaches, participant families, and others affiliated with new and ongoing program sites.
  • Work with community leaders, schools, and other groups to market and maximize the success of the program.
  • Conduct visits to program sites around our 5-county region during the fall and spring program seasons; provide constructive feedback and encouragement to volunteer coaches
  • Follow/enforce current policies and processes, and generate innovation and improvement as needed

Coach Management and Training:

  • Ensure that volunteers are onboarded in an organized, welcoming, and effective manner, and that they receive quick and cordial responses to inquiries throughout their engagement with us.
  • Facilitate and plan seasonal coach trainings; manage event logistics; implement continuous improvement in the coach training process
  • Coordinate coach newsletter and appreciation and retention activities

Supply Management and Administrative:

  • Purchase and manage distribution of all program materials to coaches and sites
  • Lead inventory management, maintaining all aspects of program supply operations
  • Maintain an accurate and updated database of volunteers

Requirements

  • This is primarily a work-from-home role, but this employee will need to come on-site to events and practices, potentially at short notice for our mid-afternoon practice times at school locations. Therefore, the employee does need to be a resident of the area served by our council – the counties of Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, San Francisco, and San Mateo.
  • Ability to provide own workspace OR work in our office in San Francisco.
  • Valid Driver’s License required
  • Must be able to move and lift items weighing as much as 30 pounds
  • All candidates will need to qualify to interact in schools, which means passing a Livescan fingerprint background check, proving a clear TB test upon hire dated within the last year, and providing proof of COVID-19 vaccine

Job Type: Full-time
