Program Director Psychiatric RN

About you

  • ·A Program Director, Psychiatric RN leading a specialized geriatric staff with an interdisciplinary team treatment approach and focus on reducing symptoms and treating the underlying condition in a calm, nurturing environment.
  • A leader who assures that the interdisciplinary practice model is followed. Assures that interdisciplinary treatment plans are developed in collaboration with the Acute Psychiatric treatment team, the patient and the patient’s authorized representative.
  • A Registered nurse with a master’s degree in psychiatric or mental health nursing or be qualified by education and experience in the care of the mentally ill, or master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work or Therapeutic Recreation/Arts.
  • A collaborator with experience building team leaders and organization personnel and managers.
  • Candidate will appreciate the state-of-the-art inpatient facility for short-term treatment, incorporating nationally acclaimed model of compassionate and high-quality care.

Your role

  • Demonstrates ability to understand nursing and interdisciplinary practice in the psychiatric care setting including but not limited to: patient / family education; therapeutic programming; individual and group dynamics; assessment and reassessment; treatment planning; use of equipment / supplies; emergency procedures etc.
  • Provides supervision to all personnel on all shifts, including nursing, assures that all documentation is signed off, including assessments, progress notes and discharge summaries.
  • Communicates with program psychiatrists, physicians and staff regarding problems or clinical concerns regarding patient care.
  • Completes department rounds reviewing for compliance with standards in collaboration with infection control, housekeeping and others as appropriate.
  • Clinical and quality improvement functions which includes assessments/reassessments, treatment planning, restraint and seclusion management, quality assurance and performance improvement, patient safety, among others.

The Team

You’ll report to a talented CEO/Administrator and Director of Nursing who lead in the best way possible. They will be a fantastic guide and mentor, but you’ll have oodles of autonomy.


  • Three to five years supervisory experience in psychiatric care is preferred.
  • Experience with psychiatric patients is required, geriatrics preferred.
  • Knowledge of CMS Conditions of Participation required.
  • Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse to practice in the State of California.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) competency required.

Salary: $165,000.00 /year
