Production Supervisor

ResourceMFG has a 3rd shift Production Supervisor opportunity within a cosmetic manufacturing company in Chatsworth, CA.

Pay: 65K – $75K D.O.E.

Hours: 11pm – 7:30am + Overtime and weekends

Direct hire/fulltime opportunity

Summary: The Production Supervisor is a hands-on position, responsible for meeting the Company’s production, quality, and safety goals, while ensuring compliance.   Objectives are met through interfacing with direct reports; assigning and managing their work assignments, monitoring work performance, and providing feedback on their performance. Coordinates production schedule to meet deadlines and creates initiatives to increase the efficiency of production.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Direct production personnel, assigning them to work centers and providing instruction to attain production goals.
  • Assure best use of resources to meet schedule demands and quality standards.  Train new and full time employees on plant functions and new processes.
  • Plan labor and resource requirements to meet the production plan, goals, and costs.
  • Perform Material Requirements Planning.
  • Coordinate production Work Order execution and review bulk/component availability to meet Master Production Schedule as well as, coordinate special sampling requirements, i.e. for stability, process engineering, validation, and re-inspection notices.
  • Manage production mechanic’s duties including prioritize set-ups, troubleshooting and repairs. Generate shop orders to resolve operational problems.
  • Create or update Packaging S.O.P.s, I.E.s, and written procedures required to assure efficient production.
  • Monitor area for compliance to or departures from safety practices, compliance, cleanliness, and quality.
  • Maintain the accuracy of inventory control, item counts, and material accountability during the transfer and conversion of inventory items.
  • Interact with PIC, Compounding, Quality, Marketing, Distribution, Warehouse, etc. to meet goals
  • Investigate, report, recommend and implement corrective actions for any incident which deviates from or does not comply Inc. policies and standards
  • Ensure Lead people, Material Handlers, Packers, etc. are coordinated, correctly perform all of their duties, and all document control procedures are adhered to.
  • Evaluate and analyze efficiencies with the suggestion or implementation of corrective action for improvement, so as to meet efficiency goals and that schedules are adhered to.
  • Transmit, train, and enforce quality requirements, expectations, and standards, including all housekeeping guidelines, to production staff.
  • Prepare packaging instructions and review bills of material.  Manage labor/timekeeping system.
  • Determine process and safety improvements. Formulate production strategy and optimization, troubleshoot and follow up on CAPA.
  • Maintain a command and control position in the Department by regularly inspecting all the activities in the Department, resolving problems as they arise.
  • Audit and close completed work orders, reviewing records for accuracy and completion. Provide feedback if incomplete records, errors, deviations or significant variances are detected
  • Conduct meetings which include but not limited to, explanation of policy changes, general announcements, safety, quality alerts, and general procedural training
  • Properly handle personnel issues including intrapersonal conflicts, time clock issues, disciplinary actions, dress code compliance, violation of policies, etc. Coordinate actions with Human Resources.
  • Meet with associates to provide positive feedback as well as to convey their status to achieve output or efficiency goals, as well as with a corrective action plan for any deficiencies.
  • Provide detailed reports of production and quality issues to Management in a timely manner and with a high sense of urgency to resolve issues quickly
  • Control inventory, including the elimination of variances and review of usages
  • Develop new or improved work methods to resolve problems of an unusual nature, with Management review available
  • Assist in production as needed, which includes manning a production position
  • Review and evaluate personnel. Implement guidance and training for personnel. Including progressive discipline when necessary
  • Maintain adherence and compliance to all Company policies, department rules, labor laws, FDA GMP requirements, OSHA and quality regulations
  • Assure proper training is executed and documented
  • Report and investigate accidents.  Monitor areas for unsafe conditions and practices.
  • Strong results and quality orientation. Ability to overcome obstacles and achieve goals
  • Any other tasks that may be assigned from time to time to meet company goals

Job Requirements:

Qualifications: An individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  Individual must be highly self-motivated and self-disciplined with ability to work effectively with little or no supervision.

 

Education/Experience: Minimum 2-5 years of experience as a Supervisor in a production cosmetic manufacturing preferred.  High school or Technical School diploma or equivalent experience. cGMP knowledge is a plus. Must have knowledge of applicable OSHA regulations.
