The Asset Failure Analysis (AFA) team sits under Electric Asset Strategy in Electric Operations.

AFA investigates equipment-caused ignition events by evaluating available data and failed equipment to determine apparent causes of failure.

Team members then establish the extent to which the cause conditions identified exist elsewhere in the system, putting those assets at risk.

Corrective Actions are developed and executed on, to reduce the risk of future failure events.

AFA is a high visibility and fast paced team that has an extensive impact.

AFA team members are intellectually curious, are engaged problem solvers, and are motivated by the positive effect their work has on grid reliability, resiliency, and customer safety.

The AFA team is also responsible for evaluating and introducing new technology solutions to address gaps in detection and inspection methods for identifying potential operating risks.The Electric Operations group ensures the delivery of safe and reliable electric service to our customers.

Electric Operations is responsible for every aspect of PG&E’s electric distribution, transmission, and substation operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance and construction, asset management, business planning, restoration, and emergency response.

Position Summary:As the successful candidate, you will play a crucial role in leading the Equipment Ignition Analysis (EIA) program, tasked to simultaneously evaluate and mitigate multiple electric asset failure incidents that result in ignition events in PG&E’s service territory.

You must be execution-oriented, and you will play a key role in leading EIA’s program management within the Asset Failure Analysis (AFA) team.

This includes leading the development of processes and tools that will leverage the findings and corrective actions generated from failure investigations.

You will also be on point to drive the implementation of remediating actions and will have a direct impact on PG&E’s asset management strategies, and field safety and reliability.You must be able to apply systems-based strategic thinking, be execution focused, and you are adept at working in a team-based cross-functional environment.

You will be able to leverage data and technical information from multiple sources to frame complex problems and clearly communicate to multiple stakeholders across the organization.

Flexible Location: California Job ResponsibilitiesApplies expert knowledge of Program Management to set up a PMO responsible for casual evaluation of electric asset failure incidents.

Works autonomously.

Anticipates issues and develops innovative solutions.Leads development of overall strategy to achieve program goals.

Documents standard processes and procedures to create a pathway for scalability and sustainability to push the asset failure analysis methodology as a business-as-usual operating model.Acts proactively to identify and address bottlenecks in process flowsPartners with Manager/Director to determine most appropriate and effective program performance metrics.

Develops content and format for reports and dashboards.

Delivers presentations to leaders regarding the program progress, issues identified, and key achievements.Partners with key organizations across electric operations to evaluate asset failures, develop corrective actions, and ensure their successful implementation.Develops creative solutions to address resource issues.Leads benchmarking efforts/projects in the industry to leverage best in class methodologies, share information, and drive best practices in electric program management.Administer external contracts to consultants and vendors, as necessaryRepresents the program as a subject matter expert on process improvement teams, regulatory filings, and stakeholder groups.

May provide General Rate Case data request response support.Coaches and mentors less experienced employees on the team.

May supervise 1-2 direct reports to support the execution of the program.Develops monthly and annual program work plan forecast and budget.

Monitor progress and adjust as required.

Qualifications Minimum:Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

Master’s degree preferred.10 years of related experience or equivalent Desired:In depth knowledge of energy and/or electric utility industry processes, regulatory requirements, critical success factors, goals and initiatives.Master’s in Business Administration or other Advanced DegreeExperience in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) analyticsProject Management Professional (PMP) Certification and/or Certified Scrum MasterHighly skilled at leading cross-functional project teams.
