Job SummaryThe Planning Senior Manager leads and manages the planning processes defined and agreed-upon by the organization’s executive management are carried out by any part of the organization, including its affiliate(s), as designed.

The focus of the function is to continuously develop the effectiveness of the organization through adequate planning and measurement of the delivery against plans.

Well structured, inclusive, transparent, collaborative, timely and effective processes represent the desired mode of operations of this position.The planning activities include all the identification and evaluation of external trends, threats and opportunities, definition of the strategy, definition of the operational delivery of the strategy developed, as well as the measurement and reporting of performance against the adopted plans.In carrying out his/her duties, the Senior Manager of Planning interacts with a broad range of stakeholders including the public, the ICANN community of stakeholders, the ICANN Board of Directors, the executive management of the organization, and all functional levels of the organization.Key Responsibilities & Duties:* Design and manage of all processes and activities pertaining to planning, defined as including all strategic planning, operational planning, and organizational performance measurement.

Budgeting is the responsibility of Finance, but is required to be carried in accordance to the processes defined by the Planning department.* Proactively engage with business partners to ensure that Planning activities are implemented.* Responsible to design and manage the optimization of all planning related policies and procedures, and and related systems: conducts all useful organization requirements definition, holds the business ownership of planning-related systems and partners with the relevant IT functions to ensure permanent consistency of systems solutions designed, organizes the implementation of systems and systems improvements.* Responsible to design and manage the performance measurement of the organization.* Organizes, monitors, completes and assesses the effectiveness of services as a leader in the department.* Permanently evaluates and improves the capability of the Planning staff and the Planning proesses in efforts to continuously improve both the quality and efficiency of the Planning activities.* Develop relationships across the entire ICANN ecosystem (staff, board and stakeholders) to understand needs, and creatively and proactively design improvements to existing as well as new services.* Participate all phases of project management of ICANN’s Planning process including coordination of documenting and analyzing strategic and operational goals as part of ICANN’s Planning Process.* Manage the development of the Planning documents published for public comment which includes the Five Strategic Plan, the Five year Operating and Financial Plan and the Fiscal Year Operating Plan and Budget.* Compile and analyzes relevant data from cross-functional teams to improve transparency and accountability measures and reporting.* Track, analyze and report achievement of strategic and operational goals with the performance.* Provide commentary and visibility into operational financial performance and key business drivers to provide business insights to internal customers and management.* Support creating and maintaining detailed operational and financial models, identifying risks and opportunities, and recommending strategies to achieve company financial goals.* Serve as a key member of the Planning team providing leadership and professional guidance to team members.* Analyze key performance measurements and report out on the status accomplishments on objectives within the plan.* Perform specialized strategic and operational analysis (e.g., SWOT and “what-if” analysis); and manage related executive summary reports.* Foster improvements to the internal and external reporting framework by performing ongoing analysis of processes and providing recommended solutions for business processes.* Prepare and Manage Planning presentations, narratives and board supporting documents for internal and external publication.* Manage/ support ad-hoc reporting needs as requested from internal and external stakeholders.* Ensure consistent, high-quality & timely delivery of roadmaps and execution for all projects and assignments.* Demonstrate a Strategic mindset and be able to provide a narrative through analysis, develop innovative strategies and drive value add throughout every project.* Other duties as assigned or requested.Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):* Experience and expertise in leading, designing, performing strategic and operational planning planning activities in a corporate environment.* Excellent communication skills (oral and written).* Strong project management and presentation skills with an ability to manage multiple, concurrent projects and ensuring that all deliverables and deadlines are met.* Experience with collaboration and consensus building across functions while driving high performance for the groups/teams in order to meet deliverables.* Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage, direct, lead and coordinate, and effectively interact across functions and externally.* Strong leadership presence.* Strong ability to work in a consensus-building environment, with multiple stakeholders.* Ability to work with highly diverse international workforce.* Ability to multi-task and to work independently.* Ability to solve complex issues in a challenging environment.* Able to self-manage progress against milestones and deliverables with a high degree of accountability and professional urgency and accountability .* High level of proficiency in reporting databases, Excel (v-lookup, pivots, macros, etc.) and PowerPoint is required.* Ability to structure and execute qualitative and quantitative analysis and deliver data-driven insights.* Self-motivated team player with strong ability to lead and influence teams, colleagues and internal and external stakeholders at all levels.Education and Experience Requirements:* Bachelor Degree required, Master’s Degree (MBA) preferred.* Minimum eight (8) years of related experience.* Minimum five (5) years with progressively operational analysis and leadership responsibilities.* Experience in process design, documentation, and process improvement.* Experience in performance measurement and reporting.* Experience working in a non-profit environment is a plus.Language* Fluency, both written and spoken, in English is required.* ICANN is a global organization that values diversity; preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated skills in additional languages besides English.Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:* International travel will be required to support ICANN related meetings and industry conferences as requested and in some cases for lengths of 7-10 days for each trip, approximately one to three times per year, likely on different continents.* Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed and to support virtual meetings globally in differing time zones.* Work is performed in a normal office environment with limited privacy and some exposure to background noise.
