Operations Director

This position will be responsible for site operations, ancillary programs including camping, parking, shuttles, credentials/gate operations, and risk management (contracting/insurance, safety, and security planning and permitting). Heavy emphasis on risk management.

Description

  • Oversee pre-planning (“advancing”) and on-site execution of all Safety and Perimeter Operations (further defined below)
  • Prepare individual event budgets and track forecasts and record actuals per company deadlines and processes
  • Recruit, hire, train and manage staff to assist in areas of responsibility to include full-time and contract employees
  • Bid/negotiate vendor contracts and ensure vendor “Terms and Conditions for Vendor Services” and Certificates of Insurance are obtained for areas of responsibility as defined below and manage onsite asset requests with Site Director for vendors and public safety officials
  • Work closely with venue contacts and local officials to understand and complete required permitting for individual events
  • Primary liaison with local health and safety officials to ensure proper planning and appropriate staffing at individual events
  • Manage regular communication to all departments, vendors, event staff and partners regarding items including site plans, event timelines and training materials.
  • Support VP of Operations as needed
  • Safety: Develop SOP and policies, develop overall medical plan, work with local municipalities, develope incident command post team and plan, develop emergency response plan, etc.

Profile

  • Minimum 4 years of experience managing multi-day, large-scale outdoor events with 25,000 attendees or more
  • Passion for the live music and event planning industries
  • Experience managing full-time direct reports and independent contractors
  • Specialized skill in/passion for safety and perimeter operations
  • Experience in vendor management
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Strong work ethic and high level of integrity
  • Self-motivated
  • Instills confidence and commands respect
  • Ability to manage multiple projects/tasks simultaneously
  • Exhibits strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to problem solve at a high level and possess strong analytical skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) as well as Mac/Apple operating systems
  • Ability to work nights and weekends and travel overnight for extended periods
