Boeing’s Disruptive Computing & Network (DC&N) team is seeking a DC&N Portfolio Manager / Deputy Chief Engineer to help create world class, next generation disruptive systems and technologies. You will be part of an amazing, collaborative team working on a portfolio of research projects, including proprietary projects. You will work with multiple engineering disciplines and a wide range of functional support groups, on exciting research, development, and operational efforts.
This position can be based out of El Segundo, CA or Huntington Beach, CA, Annapolis Junction, MD, Tukwila, WA or Fairfax, VA.
This position requires demonstrated experience in quantum technologies, high-fidelity digital twin technologies, a diverse background of project management experience, and the clear exhibition of superior judgment and decision making to engineer new solutions and support existing capabilities. Demonstrated strategic and critical thinking skills and exceptional troubleshooting capabilities are required.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the integrated planning, strategy development, program management, and technical oversight of a portfolio composed of multiple research, development, prototyping, or demonstration projects, each intended to develop future, next generation capabilities for Boeing.
Position Responsibilities:

Responsible for a portfolio (i.e., multiple) DC&N quantum technology research projects, including
-
Budget planning and execution
-
Staffing – identify staffing needs, develop staffing plan, onboarding, coordinate with functional / homeroom managers
-
Strategy development, alignment, execution, and communication
-
Program/project management and oversight
-
Serve as blend of program manager and chief engineer
-
Technical and programmatic milestone development
-
Milestone planning, risk management, and execution management
-
Work with project technical leads to ensure that teams are performing to capability
-
Identify shortcomings and develop solutions to remedy them
-

As appropriate, ensure development of unique Design Practices
-
Develop, adapt, and implement appropriate processes / procedures to ensure high quality output of all projects and disseminate as appropriate throughout DC&N and ET&T

Coordinate DC&N activities with BR&T, especially in areas with substantial overlap of personnel or facilities

Coordinate DC&N activities with support organizations, ensure successful collaboration to further project objectives, including at a minimum:

Finance Supplier Management

IT Communications

Legal (and IPM) Facilities

Government Operations Global Engagement

Ensure effective interactions with Business Units and Enterprise

Articulate strategy, programmatic objectives, and technical capabilities under development

Identify high leverage opportunities for DC&N projects to address Business Unit challenges, limitations, or constraints

Ensure insertion of DC&N technologies and future capabilities onto strategic roadmaps

Develop, negotiate, and ensure success of specific technology transitions between DC&N projects and Business Unit programs

Ensure effective collaboration with current and future business partners

Manage supplier relationships to ensure successful project execution

Develop relationships with potential future business partners / suppliers

Construct effective agreements with business partners to meet strategic objectives

Ensure effective communications with government customers

Shape future contracted research and development efforts

Position DC&N / BR&T / Boeing to be competitive for future CRAD efforts

Develop good working relationships with government decision makers in areas of relevance for DC&N

Identify and develop relationships with key technical individuals

Develop outreach effort to communicate DC&N / BR&T / Boeing accomplishments to potential future employees (students, employees at competitors / suppliers / government, etc.)

This position requires the ability to apply for a U.S. Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required) and ability to complete a CI (Counter Intelligence) polygraph after employment start.
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
-
Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or other technical degree

1+ years of experience with quantum information science and technology as well as familiar with related engineering disciplines such as mechanical, thermal, electrical, computer, and systems engineering
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)

10 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
