MMGY NJF has an immediate opening for aVice President PR in our Los Angeles, CA office.
The Vice President (VP) has a formal leadership role in the agency, helping to drive client relationships and new business development, and manage the day-to-day operations and staff development of MMGY NJF?s Los Angeles team.
The Vice President is responsible for the strategic and financial oversight and development of multifaceted PR campaigns within a dedicated account portfolio.
This position is responsible for the retention, profitability, and overall success of the portfolio, providing expertise, innovation, and results.
The VP also has an active role in identifying and implementing operational and financial efficiencies, while promoting an environment that inspires creativity, entrepreneurship, and learning.
The VP leads collaboration across offices and channels, is an integral member of integrated agency accounts, serves as a company ambassador through active agency promotion, and leads new business initiatives.Client Relations and Strategy:* Lead the strategy, development, and implementation of client PR programs; write/approve annual scopes of work* Supervise account leads and oversee account activities to achieve maximum profitability* Oversee PR work in cross channel/integrated account teams and present holistic/channel-neutral ideas that can be implemented across multiple channels; providing PR counsel and direction to integrated teams* Identify and/or seize organic opportunities for selling projects and/or other agency services to clients within their portfolio in addition to the broader NJF client roster* Develop and maintain appropriate budgets to fit scopes of work * Develop and maintain client relationships; provide strategic client counsel* Maintain a high level of industry and media awareness, keeping abreast of media moves, lifestyle trends, and the news cycle * Provide creative input and multichannel direction to account group, including the development of innovative promotions, story ideas, the conceptualization of press materials, other client content, and knowledge of how to leverage social media in PR programs* Generate and execute innovative ideas for major media coverage* Oversee agency output to ensure quality control and client ROI* Approve all client retainer and expense invoices monthly; monitor clients?
budgets as per contractTeam Development:* Supervise/train/mentor and grow junior team members * Use sound judgement to provide counsel to account teams on delicate situations with clients and media* Anticipate, identify and suggest solutions to company development issues* Assist in agency human resources activities; interview potential staff candidates; make recommendations; oversee review/promotion process for teamAgency Promotion and New Business Development* Demonstrate behaviors consistent with agency values and lead by example* Suggest, implement and support initiatives for positive change* Generate new business opportunities; identify leads, work with new business team to take an active role in leading new business processes, including writing compelling proposals and presenting to prospects* Knowledge of and ability to provide an overview of all agency capabilities to clients and prospects* Represent the agency at client/industry/media eventsand participate in industry speaking opportunities* Actively participate in agency promotion* Actively participate in and/or lead agency initiatives for NJF and broader MMGY * Help drive innovation within NJF and broader MMGY* Help define and promote NJF culture internally and externally Qualifications & Skills: * Strong leadership presence and ability to advise clients and converse easily with C-level executives * Ability to develop and present effective PR plans and client programs* Experience overseeing comprehensive campaigns, including launch events, media tours, press trips, and partnerships/promotions, plus experience working on and/or managing cross-channel campaigns* Proven track record of well-targeted media placements and established relationships with media* Experience managing/mentoring junior staff* Experience developing and managing budgets, allocating resources and staffing for profitability * Solid understanding of social media and how to utilize it * Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills * Effective networking skills* Experience identifying and cultivating new business opportunities* Sensitivity to deadlines and ability to prioritize and manage tasks effectively* Ability to anticipate needs, identify problems and advise on solutions for the benefit of clients, account groups, and agency operations* Sensitive listening skills (from client, supervisor, and media)* Ability to work both independently and collaborativelyExperience & Education Requirements:* 10+ years of public relations agency experience as a primary client contact preferred or minimum of 10 years in-house experience in a communications role * Bachelor’s Degree in communications, journalism, or related field preferred* Destination experience and California-specific experience a plus* Experience independently leading a sizeable client portfolio and navigating crises* Travel, tourism, and/or hospitality industry experience * Bilingual Spanish/English written and oral skills a plus MMGY Global provides a comprehensive PTO + benefits package inclusive of a hybrid telework policy.
