The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) , Boeing Space and Launch is seeking a highly motivated leader as a Mechanisms Engineering Manager who will drive innovation and motivate the workforce and suppliers in a challenging environment for the Mechanisms Engineering Teams in El Segundo, CA .

You will lead high-performing teams that are immersed in development and high non-recurring engineering activities, as well as inspiring teams to increase Performance, First Time Quality, and Affordability.

You will have direct reports accountable for Satellite mechanisms engineering across Government and Commercial Satellite Programs.

Additionally, you will support the Senior Manager in the execution of engineering as well as strategic roadmap and future product development.

Responsibilities: Reports to the Senior Platform Engineering Manager, part of the In-Space Vehicles Engineering Capability Achieve quality, cost, schedule, risk mitigation and technical performance targets across multiple Product Line Integrated Product Teams (IPTs).

Execution of the engineering statement of work on current and future satellite contracts in the area of Mechanisms engineering with a focus on first-time quality, on-time engineering, cost, and schedule Inspire and champion creativity, innovation, affordability and organization initiatives Provide direct management and technical oversight of engineering, technical approaches and processes Manage all staffing needs, determine critical skills, forecasts, obtains and manage personnel, facilities, services, equipment and tools to meet project and organizational needs Champion employee recognition, increase employee satisfaction and ensure workplace safety Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders and partners (program managers, Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), customers, etc.) Convey organizational messages, business vision, and strategies to the workforce.

Proactively communicate with leadership, peers, team, and customers Coach, counsel, mentor, actively listen to employees concerns/suggestions and provide development opportunities and job assignments to enhance performance of the organization and individuals Work closely with Chief Engineering to drive Root Cause and Corrective Action Investigations to completion Exemplify Boeing Behaviors in day-to-day operations.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S.

Security Clearance for which the U.S.

Government requires U.S.

Citizenship.

An interim and/or final U.S.

Top Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience): Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.

3 or more years of experience in an engineering leadership role (either as a lead or a manager) Willing and able to obtain a Top Secret US Government Clearance Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience): A Tier 5 (T5) (formerly known as a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI)) Experience with Mechanisms Engineering.

Familiarity with Earned Value Metrics Familiarity with design and manufacturing engineering practices Familiarity with product qualifications and root cause investigations Ability to solve complex problems and the ability to work multiple tasks simultaneously This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.
