Position Overview
We seek a high-performing Managing Director, Group Manager for our Emerging Middle Market Group. This role involves leading Regional Managers and their teams of Relationship Managers across Southern California, from LA to San Diego. The ideal candidate has over 9 years of success in acquiring new clients, engaging with companies generating $10MM – $50MM in revenue, and maintaining key relationships in these regions.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive market share growth by leveraging existing networks and acquiring new clients.
- Recruit, develop, and coach teams focused on managing emerging middle market relationships.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, audit, regulatory, and legal standards.
- Develop and maintain strategic relationships with various internal teams and external clients.
- Lead business development initiatives, client relationship management, and revenue generation.
- Oversee deal structuring, negotiations, and documentation for complex transactions.
- Identify process improvements and monitor productivity benchmarks.
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership and contribute to strategic initiatives.
- Manage resources and lead strategic execution aligned with business priorities.
- Develop communication strategies and ensure consistent messaging across channels.
- Support sales activities, including client research, pitch preparation, and post-sale follow-up.
- Maintain accurate client data and ensure seamless client service delivery.
- Influence organizational culture to align with BMO’s values and promote diversity and inclusion.
- Attract and retain top talent, fostering their development and recognizing performance.
Qualifications
- Typically 9+ years of relevant experience with a post-secondary degree or equivalent.
- In-depth Credit Qualification and Portfolio Management skills.
- Extensive experience in financial services, especially in corporate lending, with a record of developing business.
- Formal credit training and prior lending authority.
- Strong analytical, influence, collaboration, and management skills.
- Ability to manage ambiguity and complex situations.
Compensation and Benefits
Salary range: $153,600 – $285,600, with variations based on experience, skills, and location. Compensation may include incentives, bonuses, and other benefits such as health insurance, tuition reimbursement, and retirement plans. More details can be found at BMO Total Rewards.
