Job Overview : Ambry’s Software Solutions team is seeking an experienced UI/UX product design professional to lead the design team and processes for our various patient and provider healthcare platforms.
This professional will thrive in a fast-paced environment, and will collaborate with developers, product managers, and the marketing team to shape the user experience.
As part of the end-to-end product team, our UI/UX Design Manager will leverage their knowledge from design prototype to functional customer product.

Duties and Responsibilities:Lead, develop and advocate for a team of in-house and contract UI and UX designers, to drive product design from concept to production.Drive the vision for effective user experience, ensuring the team executes with an exceptional level of attention to detail and delivers user-friendly, high quality customer software experiencesDemonstrate the ability to partner with business leaders from product, commercial, engineering, and marketing to understand, contribute to, and execute product strategy.Contribute to creating patient and healthcare provider-facing applications and experiences that enable genomic testing at scale.Project manage design aspects of the roadmap, with a focus on collaboration and accountability for your team.
Capable of managing design timelines and setting and delivering dates for work.Understand and translate internal opportunities and external customer needs and opportunities into design briefs for new programs, features and improvements.Identify and define audience-centric solutions, serving as an ambassador to our end user’s point of view.
Be prepared to make decisions about design and provide rationale for decisions.As the UI/UX design manager, your role will include working closely with the development team on implementation, verification, and testing of the designs, as well as our business analysts and product managers.As a team player, your personality should lend to flexibility, collaboration, consultation, and support as needed with product managers, designers, stakeholders and end users.Ideally you thrive in a fast paced and high thruput environment.

EDUCATION and Knowledge: Bachelor’s degree in design or equivalent practical experienceProven UI/UX experience on at least one successful product launch in the healthcare, medical device, or genomics space.
Or a very strong well-rounded UI/UX portfolioPortfolio which shows applied knowledge of user-centered design, with great attention to detailStrong managerial, written and verbal skills to communicate and support your ideas and rationalesProven experience identifying and understanding how user needs, business requirements and technology constraints intersectAbility to work with requirements that are still changing or in flux, while keeping in mind the bigger pictureExperience working with user demographics including (but not limited to): healthcare providers, genetic counselors, cancer patients, health system administrators, scientists, and medical researchers is preferred is a plusV.
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES (Skill, Abilities and Capabilities): A strong portfolio that demonstrates user focused interactive design, wireframes, visual design, branding, diagraming & user flows, use cases, and a keen visual aesthetic.Expertise and an advocate for FigmaSkills with design and software tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Adobe XD, JIRA, Confluence, Miro, Microsoft, Google, etc.Sound understanding of HTML, CSS (ability to code not required)Familiarity with mobile and web design basics, user scenarios and persona creation, wireframing and project scopingAbility to take a product requirement document and create new and recurring UX experiences.VI.
EXPERIENCE: 5 years of experience in user experience, interface design for web and mobile applications, design strategy, or other relevant consumer-focused field, working cross functionally with development teams on functional designs and user acceptance testing2 years of people management experience including other UI/UX designers or a product design team for software applicationsExperience working in matrixed corporate environments across distributed teams and with several stakeholdersExperience working on products in the healthcare or other highly complex, regulated environmentOther:Duties may require occasionally working outside normal working hours (evenings) at pre-scheduled times (i.E.
Wednesday at 8pm Pacific Time)This role works with Personal Health Information (PHI) on a regular basis both in paper and electronic form, and therefore training relating to HIPAA/PHI privacy, General Policies and Procedure Compliance training and security training will be required upon hire.
