This position is responsible evaluating the transportation industry, and supporting strategic recommendations.
This role will co-own the carrier relationship regarding rate negotiation validation following established procurement process and on-going analysis to assure rates are in line to plan/LBE expectations.
Lastly, this role will support monthly and quarterly actuals reporting and LBE adjustments.The individual will be a support mechanism to the Operations team and will work in close collaboration with the Manager, Transportation Operations and Manager, Solutions & Analytics to drive both near-term and long-term business initiatives and deliverables.
Focus will be balanced between capacity, service, and rate and compliance of those focus areas.WHAT YOU’LL DO Owns market intelligence by investigating and providing critical information as it relates to transportation trends, acquisitions, and legislature.
Support development of contingency plans to address as applicable.
Present regularly on cost improvement initiatives and the state of the transportation industry Evaluates recommended capacity solutions for spend impact against LBE Supports LBE development and owns weekly evaluation to operate within LBE goals Owns LBE components and recommends adjustments to future LBE revisions to Sr.
Manager Rate and spend validations to assure alignment to plan/LBE, all modes.
Validate recommended award changes for non-compliance to capacity or service expectations while balancing impact of rate on spend Provide weekly insights to spend through accurate Tier 3 reporting Owns lane level rate metrics and provides insight to overall network rate health Owns monthly accrual and assures accuracy of month-to-month reconciliation Owns Margin & Profitability initiatives and savings evaluation Owns All Modes reporting and provides insights to leadership of trends via Tier 3 and MBR sessions Leads freight audit initiatives and Websettle balance dues; regularly reviews accessorials for emerging trends or spend anomalies that need addressed Assures rates are aligned with capacity and all adjustments BluJay/E2Open are executed Validates Dedicated fleet rate metrics and assure spend is in-line to contractual obligations and provides savings over the use of one-way service providers.
Participates in weekly meetings with providers, and report out to leadership on cost performance Regularly checks rate addendums to BluJay/E2Open continuous alignment and accuracy Supports all pricing events and rate analytics Assist in the coordination of quarterly carrier reviews that address past performance, future strategy, and innovation.
Supports Management Operating System (MOS) to include Tier 1, Tier 2, Tier 3, Monthly Business Reviews, and Compliance Reviews to include Capacity, Service, and Rate Adhere to Routing Guide update guidelines and lane award parameters.
Drives continuous improvement projects to optimize operations and improve service to meet and exceed business objectives; support strategic projects that have a network-wide impact Fosters a team environment and engages providers to drive superior performance and award compliance Provides support for future distribution and network changes, system configuration changes, and new service provider onboardingEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE, YOU’LL BRINGRequired Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Logistics, Operations, or Supply ChainPreferred: 5-10 plus years in Transportation leadership or analyst role with concentration on carrier compliance and analysis Experience with and applied knowledge of end to end supply chain including transportation, customer service, and financial aspects; dedicated fleet management experience Attention to detail and organization/ documentation skills Experience working with transportation planning and execution systems from providers such as BluJay with a strong knowledge of SAP Proficient in Microsoft suite of products including Advanced Excel, Access and PowerPoint Experience building reports using tools such as Cognos and Microsoft Power BI, a plus Motivated self-starter with the ability to work in and across cross functional teams Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated success working with and influencing team members to achieve goals Passion for supply chain management and improving supply chain efficiencies Ability to balance multiple priorities at once and manage time appropriately Communicate effectively and build relationships with representatives from cross-functional teams Strong organization skills with the ability to build relationships internally and externally Experience with Lean, a plus Excellent written and oral communications skillsWHAT WE OFFERAt Abbott, you can have a good job that can grow into a great career.
