Manager, Sales Supervision and Surveillance

The Regulatory Principal and Surveillance departments are part of the firms Operations division and are primarily responsible for review, approval and monitoring of the all the firms business including but not limited to, front-end suitability review and approval for brokerage accounts, managed accounts, direct mutual fund, variable, 529 and direct participation programs.

In addition, post-sale review of trading, managed account monitoring and AML alerts.

These departments are also part of the overall service experience with our clients and must manage risk in addition to achieving high standards of service including timely review and proactive communication with internal and external clients.

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Responsible for the daily oversight of the regulatory principal and surveillance departments personnel, workflows, processing procedures and problem resolution.

Communicate with Financial Advisors, assistants, and internal staff about supervisory procedures, updates and concerns.

Review and analyze productivity, service levels and processing procedures to ensure company goals and service standards are met.

Continually seek out and implement efficiencies and service/process improvements.

Actively analyze problems, determine causal factors and implement corrective actions.

Exercise strong problem solving and decision-making skills.

Determine and manage staffing levels for the department(s); select candidates for open positions, conduct interviews and extend employment offers to highly qualified individuals.

Accountable for team and staff development by providing the tools and training needed to achieve success.

Provide career planning, goal setting and coaching support to team members.

Monitors, reports, and enforces internal controls to ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and the firms policies and procedures.

Maintain accurate knowledge of all product lines.

Enforce department budget Train, coach, and mentor staff.

Plan and conduct performance appraisals of staff, administer disciplinary action, and promotions when necessary.

Create and develop ongoing strategic plan for team; including training, process improvements and team building.

Identifies, develops and implements quality assessment and performance improvements tools and methodologies to insure a positive impact on the departments performance of services.

Other duties as assigned.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES Manage cross-organizational projects and demonstrate negotiating skills.

Must be able to build effective business relationships with internal departments, financial advisors and external service providers.

Help execute the goals, strategies and vision of the Service and Operations organization as well as the firm as a whole.

QUALIFICATIONS Bachelors degree preferred, high school diploma (or equivalent) in combination with significant experience will be considered in lieu of degree.

Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent is required.

7 years of experience in the financial services/ securities industry required.

Extensive knowledge of sales supervision, compliance and FINRA/SEC regulatory requirements.

Series 4, 7, 24, 53, (or 9/10), and 66 are required.

Experience with FIS Protegent Surveillance preferred.

Experience managing and developing employees in a high-performance work culture highly desired.

SKILLS Demonstrated outstanding interpersonal skills; Demonstrated behaviors including a high level of motivation, flexibility, and sense of urgency is imperative.

Ability to manage supervisory personnel who review applications for suitability and monitor trade activity for potential regulatory issues.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to exhibit confidence when explaining complex issues required.

Must have strong analytical and problem solving skills.

Must have strong attention to details and the ability to prioritize tasks.

Must have the ability to work effectively independently, as well as in a team environment.

Must have strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office applications including Excel and Word.
