Manager on Duty

 

Total Airport Services is seeking a Manager on Duty is a highly motivated individual, a self-starter, and team player with a strong drive for results and continuous improvement. Proactively monitors the work of assigned employees to ensure that customer satisfaction, safety, security, quality, and employee relations meet or exceed standards. Administers practices in a fair and equitable manner, where all employees, customers, vendors, and other third parties are treated with respect. The Manager on Duty will be fully responsible for delivering effective passenger services solutions to our customers. The Manager on Duty will promote a positive team environment to serve our customers. 

3.  ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

•Safety  

oBe a champion for safety through accountability, awareness, and communication.  

oConduct monthly safety meetings for all employees (without exception) and meet TAS a safety requirements. 

  • Conduct flight audits, station audits, and “at-risk” behavior audits.  

  • Communicate and instill safety awareness in all employees, including new hires.  

•Operational Performance  

  • Manages operation coordination (Staff schedules/ground support equipment for both Passenger and Cargo). 

  • Ensure the proper scheduling of Supervisors, Leads, and Agents. Assigns agents based on equipment certification (use master training list) or other special certification (Dash8 , cross-trained warehouse/ramp, etc.) 

  • Review all daily, weekly and monthly operational reports to ensure proper dissemination, including but not limited to, shift reports, disciplinary actions, incident reports, safety meeting minutes, monthly summary report, pay change notices, employee evaluations, work orders, or any other local reporting medium. 

  • Work in conjunction with Customer to determine manpower requirements for group movements, peak travel holidays, out of scope and flight schedule changes. Conduct employee shift briefings and  team meetings as required. 

    . •  Customer Service 

    • Communicates on a daily basis with airline customer regarding cargo, load/unload requirement, ramp/parking requirements, flight schedule, and other request (house stalls, etc.). 

    • Resolve customer service issues in a timely manner with tact and diplomacy.  

    • Observe and ensure full compliance with uniform and appearance guidelines and inspect facility daily, including supply rooms, storage rooms, storage, break rooms, and office areas. 

    • Investigate all service failures, including chargeable delays, baggage/cargo/mail mishandling. 

    • Administer station operational plans such as deicing, FOD, safety, winter operation, and baggage plans.  

    • •   Fiscal Responsibility  

      • Review key performance indicators (KPI’s) and convey necessary actions if needed.   

      • Coordinate purchases for operational necessities and ensure adequate supplies are available to meet customer standards. 

      • Review final payroll and daily hours to ensure salaries and wages remain within budgetary restraints. 

      • Monitor the impact of operational irregularities on costs and ensure out of scope is documented and approved accordingly. 

      • Regulatory Compliance  

      • Monitor and ensure compliance to all FAA, TSA, and DOT regulations establish sound working relationships with FAA, TSA, Customs, Immigrations, airport authorities, and business partners.  

      • Attend all local airport tenant, security, and safety meetings.  

      • Investigate, report, and implement corrective action for any incident of aircraft damage or employee injury and conduct/participate in employee coaching and counseling as necessary to discuss issues and concerns.  

      • Cultivate a Professional, Team-based Work Environment  

      • Hire the best talent and follow recruiting and hiring practices and procedures.  

      • Aptitude to develop the team, provide succession planning, and re-engineer business processes as demanded by changes in the business. 

      • Coach and train employees in their communication, feedback, recognition, and interaction responsibilities with the employees who report to them.Offer development opportunities for team members through the creation of performance expectations, mentoring, and conducting regular performance evaluations.  

      • Able to work with a multinational workforce, and to adjust to the local conditions of the station.  

      • Drive Employee Engagement and Reward and Recognize Employees and set up Quality Culture teams.  

        • Perform Other functions or Duties as requested.

        NOTE: TAS Applicants must in accordance with International Air Transport Association (IATA) standards pass a security clearance (for airport security purposes) a federal background check, be fingerprinted, and complete the required educational course(s) prior to being issued an airport badge, and Customs Border Protection seal.

        4. QUALIFICATIONS

        •High school diploma, GED or equivalent preferred 

        •Minimum of 18 years old 

        •A valid state-issued driver’s license with acceptable driving record 

        •Ability to pass a background check and drug screen 

        •Eligibility to obtain necessary credentials and clearances (FAA, TSA, Port Authority, U.S. Customs, and U.S. Postal)  

        •Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship 

        •Ability to speak and understand English 

        •Able to pass a pre-employment drug screen, 10-year background check (criminal/employment) and be able to obtain a  required airport security and customs clearance 

        •VALID Driver’s License (NOT ID) for at least 1 full year with a clean driving record. (License cannot have any restrictions; such as LOFS or Probationary status and cannot have any suspensions and/or any moving violation offenses in the last 3 years) 

        •Must be able to obtain Airport badge, driver’s and customs seal 

        •Preferred previous ground handling with a minimum of two (2) years of experience in the field.
